Touch Footy and Oztag are notorious for major injuries.

Because they aren't proper sports in the wya league, soccer etc are, more recreational for the most part (still hard, good fitness etc) people don't take them quite so seriously, don't train, don't condition, don't do the same sort of warm up

and bam, injuries upon injuries.

My dad played well over a decade of rugby league and had nothing worse than a corked thigh and broken nose, a season of touch and he tore his PCL and cracked a rib.

Hey, Twizzle here

Time to put our thinking caps on.

I have been thinking that maybe we should change the Superthread title to f**k the ruskies and their warships.

Thoughts ?

yep, it's amazing how a good warm up can prevent injuries.. i'm always getting to my games early so i can do a full stretch, runs, sprints etc before i play anything...

basically twice this year i ran late for a game of touch and a game of hockey and didn't get time to do my warm ups..

pulled my thigh muscle in touch and did my adductor in hockey.. both really hurt and both were the result of over use which wouldn't have occurred if i had warmed up properly..

outside of that i've been relatively lucky for a number of years and haven't done anything major.. thankfully i generally have the benefit of size on my side for collisions with other people so don't get too many knocks that way..

how'd your dad crack a rib in touch? i know i had a painful collision in oz-tag once where i had someone coming at me, so i gave the one handed pass over the top of their head to one of my team-mates, but the defender kept coming and ran their face straight into my exposed rib-cage..

they hit so hard i actually had teeth marks in me...

mind you, the teeth marks were somewhat softened by their bottom lip, coming between me and their teeth..

so much blood...

No idea, it was before I was around.

I've broken an arm and torn ankle ligaments playing soccer, but one of those times I was just massively hungover, landed badly, and the ankle was going for a tackle I probably shouldnt have (hooked my foot around as a bloke was about to take a shot, ankle got caught under collision).

I like a good warm up, but I really hate doing a good warm up then waiting around to start. Once I'm warmed up I just want to get going, inevitibly there's a bunch of standing around at my low level of soccer.

3) Profit

1) fly to brisbane tonight
2) go running through the secure zone
3) free room & food in the lockup
4) savings you'd normally spend on point 3 = profit.

thank me later.

So... the yanks wanted us to pay for the destruction and re-construction of a round-about because they're too stupid to drive around them

What a bunch of lightweights!

given the roads will be quiet anyway, they'd be much better spending the money on making a hot-wheels style jump straight over the roundabout..

and if they're really bored, they can build the loop thing too..

The only problem I can see happening with that is that the Presidents fart mobiles top speed only reaches 60 mp/h - too slow to loop the loop
