Yarp. All quiet here on a Thursday night. Hoping the weekend brings more quiet....

It's an eery thing being in a city with a curfew. Many local bars and restaurants are opening earlier and getting people in at 3 or 4 instead of 6 or 7.

It might has well. It's not like I had high expectations - I did my first degree at UNE, and it's hardly a hive of activity.

Therein lies your problem. Your life for the last number of years has been a hive of activity. A place like Coffs Harbour, whether you live on or off campus, will not be a hive of activity. If there was a way to transfer to a Uni in a capital city or even a major regional area like Wollongong or the Gold Coast then I reckon you would be a bit less stir crazy.

Or maybe thinking swinging back into campus life at 31 would be cool is the error? Hanging with a bunch of drunk 20 year olds, living a lifestyle that's been done.

Nah, that's essentially been my life every year. I was running a pub crawl company last year, so being surrounded by drunk 20 year olds is nothing new.

My problem is that they don't get drunk often enough.

SGLC is on the money. Life here is just not particularly exciting when I compare it to what I've been doing.

Not to be the spoil sport, but is the drinking life what you really want?

I want an active, boozy social life, plenty of travel, and somebody to come home to.

I'm getting none of those things in Australia except for the travel, which I could have from anywhere with more of the former and latter.

I also realise I'm in the wine industry, and I do consume more than most (probably 3 bottles a week), so I'm not opposed to drinking. More interested in the mindset of boozy.

see if i recall my days living at uni, i didn't get 'drunk' often - mainly only thursday, friday and saturday nights..

didn't tend to touch a drop on 'school nights'..

mind you, when i did drink on those 3 nights, i would put a severe dent in the water supplies to lidcombe and abbotsford..

i'd probably have a drink more frequently now (yes kids, daddy's drinking because you make him) but more to enjoy the quality & get a mild buzz as opposed to getting stupidly smashed..

I get active, the travel and the coming home, but why boozy?

Booze is something to enjoy, but not to build your life around IMO

Oh, it's something I don't need if my social life is halfway decent. But the expat scene and the uni scene basically run on alcohol induced socialising.

That, and crippling social anxiety.

It's hard getting people together for a single night's drinking some weeks. Sixty people on res and it'll sometimes be a dry ass week.

I'll come spend a week when I make my glorious return.

I'll chuck in some training and show them how it's done.

quite clearly you haven't yet learned the art of tapping the water supply directly into a keg of beer..
