You're hugely wrong :p

Their junk food is overrated, but arguably better than most of what we have here, but there are some great restaurants all across the country just as there are in major Aussie cities.

I agree with all of the above reasoning, except for the ludicrous assertion that a chiko roll is better than a five layer beefy burrito from Taco Ball, a Double Double with Animal Style fries from In 'n Out, or a Sonic hot dog with frozen lemonade.

Our fast food is absolute childs play compared to what's over there. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing...

That's a pretty broad stereotype to paint an entire country's cuisine with.

EDIT: Very true of the trash I listed above as being better than a Chiko roll

Philly cheese steak from a cart on the street in new york > nearly everything I'd find in a large shopping centre food court

When I passed through Philly last time around, we stopped and got one each from Gino's and Pat's to see which we liked more.

Can't remember which one it was I preferred. Pat's, I think.

I was hungover as hell on our way to a red bulls game in new jersey and grabbed one on the way to the subway station. Was magical

The food not tainted with those three is probably quite good.

But the information I've read over how much of their food contains one of those three elements is staggering. Hate to disagree with you but its not a stereotype.

Also, the Monsanto thing is scary.

Had a few days in San Fran in Novemeber, went down to fishermans wharf and tried In 'N Out for the first time after hearing great things about it.

Absolutely woeful.

I don't know if the 'hand cut fries' were frozen a couple of times in a prior life before being deep fried but each one was like eating a chip made of f**king flour or chalk. The burger was passable but nothing to rave about. Selection is quite lacking but I guess that's the charm. So many better places to eat. Five Guys burger is okay.

For chain shit, Chipotlè is my favourite, so much I tried talking to their head office about bringing it to Oz and what it would cost to get involved in the franchise. Yes there is better independent mexican stores in the states, but for a franchise/chain, they kick ass. Chillis is okay as well if you like Tex Mex.

The best places to eat though are the independant bars/restaurants. Im a wing fiend. Stay away from Buffalo Wild wings and Hooters. Woeful. Again a lot of sports bars do a good wing.

My missus is from North Carolina, they are big into their 'Fish Camps' around where she is from, basically a large hut that sells fried cat fish and hush puppies (kinda like a 'tata tot). The general fish/seafood they eat is utter f**king trash. My mother in-law was preparing fish for dinner one night, I asked 'what sort of fish are you cooking?'
'Oh my favourite, Tilapia!!'
My look in utter horror and disgust was not hidden at all. I refused to eat it. I took her to a seafood restaurant in Townsville when she came over for holidays and made her try some Coral Trout and a few of the other better fish we have, let's just say she has dropped Tilapia from her favourite list after trying the good gear.
