Just got home from a 12 hr stint at the council depot filling sandbags.

There was a poor bastard who came in to get sandbags for his home but returned an hour later cause the river had already filled it halfway up. He was too late to even use them. The look on his wifes face was gutting.

I think I have flood fatigue from watching the constant coverage, so I can only imagine how the poor people living there must feel. The footage is absolutely insane, I can't get my head around the devastation.

In other news. I think i want to get my hair cut so i have a fringe again. I need something to cheer me up. Except i can't drive anywhere...

I drive one handed all the time, how else would I text, put makeup on and eat when I'm on my way to work?

well in mate. while i'm shocked at dismayed at the destruction from the floods - the heart, integrity and mateship on display from the greater QLD community in general to help each other out through this ordeal is extremely admirable and awesome to see.

we're such a sh*t species at times... but sometimes we really do just shine in the face of adversity.

while there is loss and devastation there is also some good news coming out

all those cars that were stuck under the bridge in the Lockyer were searched today and no bodies were found, that is where they expected to find some of the missing people

It really is quite amazing how many people have turned out to give others a hand.

I got sick of watching it all on the telly and considering I was pretty uneffected by the flood I thought Id go and do something constructive. I tell ya, there was all walks of life helping out from teenagers to seniors and you just felt like you couldnt stop, hence the 12 hr stint.

Im as sore as buggery today but if I managed to help just 1 person save their home then it was worth it.
