I seen my team in a GF.............. and lost......... merkins.

I was 15 when they entered the comp (1995).

when i think about it though, I've been lucky enough to see some milestone games for NQ, I was at the game in Wollongong in 1995 where we got our first ever win, I was up here in Tvl when we got our first ever home win (over Wests) in 1995, at the biggest comeback in first grade history (vs Penrith in 1998), I was at the Parra game in 2000 when we won but had 14 on the field and lost the points, I was at the parra game in 2001 that is still our biggest losing margin (62-0) against 12 men none the less (PJ Marsh got sent off in the 10th or so minute), I was at our first ever finals game (doggies 2004 in sydney), our first win against Brisbane the following week up here (still the best game/night ever, you had to be here to see it to know what I am talking about, first time I've ever slept out for tickets for any event as well) and our GF in 2005................. God I am a LOSER!!!!! lol!!

from reading some of the press on us lately, I really hope the cowboys don't get too carried away and get big heads. Best squad we've ever assembled for sure but they still got to go out hard, that Manly game last year was a perfect example of them reading their own press, they came out of the blocks soft and slow, I knew from the first tackle we weren't up for that game from the way they came out of the sheds. merkins have got to rip in from rd 1, anything less will be a failure.

I wonder where the Cowboys will be in a couple of years. Their best two players are two of their oldest. And JT might not even be there.

The cowboys have a losing culture beave, will take a lot to break that.

yep, can't argue with that mate.

Fingers crossed they snap out of it this year as I honestly feel that if we don't win it this year, we will never win one (not saying we will win it, it's just pure luck the calibre of player in the squad we've assembled this season)

Awesome game. You could feel that atmosphere through the TV.

The main thing I remember is Cowboys putting a grubber through, Karmichael sprinting onto the ball - and flying past and missing it completely.

Trying to remember who it was who scored that try, it's on the tip of my tongue.

I remember that Broncos home semi. The most crazy and passionate atmosphere around the town I have ever experienced. That week I spent time in the Burdekin, Townsville and Bowen and everything was a sea of blue, yellow and grey.

I can't help but smile when outsiders comment on the club. Like a couple of the posts above. Nobody pays a lick of attention to the Cowboys. To say that you know anything about our past, present or future just makes me laugh.

Im a realist mate............ :)

I am as passionate as the next fan for my team but I am also the biggest critic when warranted. They've done some stupid shit in their history, I won't defend everything they do like some fans are known to do in LU.

David Myles. Can't ever forget that name for that reason.

David Myles mate.

Was the only try of the game. The roar that went up was defeaning, DFS has no roof over the grandstands (for the most part) so the noise up here dissipates into the air easily and isn't as loud as some grounds out there, but that night it was louder than anything I've ever witnessed. With a bit of a roof around the joint, I could only imagine what it could have been like.

We are more than just bowen and Thurston BM.

Tamou, Scott, Tate are all important cogs in our machine, along with Tariq and a few other younger guys. JT was pretty average last year, tbh if i had to chose between keeping him or Matt Scott, I would keep Scott instead.

The knights would gladly take JT off your hands :)

a bit before my time but yeh seen us win a few

now for Spurs

Pull the other one Twiz! Spurs last won in the 60s, we all know you remember it fondly.

By the by, in an ideal world United would be competing for the title with Tottenham and Everton, while Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, and City would all be in League 2.

You know it!

Was there at the game too with SerbDragon and xofstgeorge, 3drunken morons...

I hate all 3 of you with a never-ending hatred. I wasn't even allowed to watch it at home. Got sent ot the pub (the Regatta - owned by a Saints fan, but decorated in red, white, and blue by a cheeky staff member), where I was surrounded by mostly donkeys fans. Biggest cheer was when Wayne Bennett was introduced at the ceremony.

My Grandpa followed my club his whole life and didnt see them win a comp.

Super League and all the bullshit that went along with it will only be buried for me when the Bears are back in the comp. I'm still pissed at the NRL for not backing the Bears' move to the Central Coast. With all the money they've poured into the Storm over the years, it's a complete travesty they couldn't give the Bears a bit of backing when the stadium was delayed by bad weather.

Bloody Steelers. We gave the purple merkins their first win in Wollongong as well, a typical purple merkin arsey late win.

That game against the donkeys in 04 was something else. I forgave you bastards for knocking us out of the finals when you shut the donkeys out.
