I have nothing but respect for Fitzy. Rumour had it Hindy tried to convince him to join Parra before he headed overseas. I would have been stoked.

Blokes like that, to me, are what footy is all about. Old warhorses who never give up and embody passion.

Plus it always amazes me to see Hindy chasing back when linebreaks are made against us. He would have every right to just put his hands on his hips and say, "f**k it - I'm buggered." But he chases anyway. Even if the bloke is younger and faster.

Some of today's younger blokes could learn a lot from blokes like Hindy, Fitzy, Kimmorley, etc.

Warhorses FTW!

There is a good article on that subject Eele in this months Alpha, they talk to Hindy and Petero.

I saw that! I was going to buy it, but I went on a huge shopping splurge and bought RLW, Big League, South Park Season 8, East Bound & Down Season 1, Soilwork's new album and 36 Crazyfist's new album. And I ran out of money.

Some worthwhile purchases there! It should still be around places.

Kids can learn how to throw intercepts with Kimmorley or kick down a fullbacks throat.

Hindy does make a lot of second or third man in tackles, no doubt about it.

But he also makes some ridiculous plays - how many times has he chased down and tackled a winger? Countless times. How many times has he made a try-saving tackle in a match where we were barely holding on to a slim lead? Countless times.

I'm not saying he's the best back rower out there. Watmough (though he can't defend), Gallen (though he's a little grubby), Lewis, Thaiday and Burgess are all definitely ahead of him in terms of attacking ability. But Hindy has a massive heart and IMO is the type of player everyone needs at least one of in their side.

I reckon if we had 13 Hindy's in the side we'd never lose. And if we did lose, it would at least be competitive.

Plus Hindy is a top bloke.

Anyway...Boobs.

I love Hindy seems like a top guy. But I wish he would show some of the old barnstorming runs he used to make. I understand all the Hindy love and would show the same if he was in my side. But isnt he rumoured to on something like $300k plus? On playing ability he is not worth that imo. Obviosuly he has earnt it through loyalty and continuous performances at the top but I would not want my club to pay that sort of cash for a workhorse.

Hindy = god

just ask Jess, she knows

gee, i love everyone. Hindy, Fitzy, Noddy.. unless they have proven themselves to be a complete tool, or have done something nasty to Parra or to a Parra player, then in general i only have love for Rugby League players, clubs, fans, administrators... :ls: :ls: i mean, why would you be a hater - too much effort!

Garts, I think you'll find Hindy earns his rumoured $300K by doing more then just making tackles. He's an inspiration, a co-captain, a mentor, a guidance councillor, a representative for the game, a pinnacle to strive to etc etc etc..
If that guy didn't finish his career at Parra, the club would be sent into a tail spin, he's worth every dollar IMO

He strikes me as the kind of guy Parra would want to try and keep on in the coaching staff, kind of like what the Warriors have done with Wiki.

I understand all that and to me his only peer in the game is Beaver. Both cleanskins etc and excellent role models. But when I consider playing ability alone he is not a $300k player, at the end of the day the other stuff is great but you could get similiar results on the field from players on much lower salaries. I guess that is what I am getting at.

Also no player in the current game deserves a premiership more than Hindy. Shame I would have to see Parra win one for him to get it :p

I think Hindy represents what we love about footy. A guy who has maybe limited ability ball in hand, but is a top, top bloke and has a massive, massive heart and will never give up. Adding to that he's a clean skin.

But he's not a line-breaking player these days any more, unfortunately.
