The whole 'Qlder' is just a cult of personality drummed up to the point where the players believe and emulate it.

Also, Qld tends to celebrate it's own side more and associate more players with the Qld side as opposed to just their club side. Even in the case of say Gorden Tallis, who had a horrendous Origin record you'll be hard pressed not to find a few Qld fans who talk him up like a Maroon legend. This seems to be downplayed down south.

I think having so few NRL teams helps the support too, spots aren't so contentious so you rarely have these debates about the team when it's named which is so common place in NSW.
