I'll be playing for the Illawarra Catholic Cricket Club in the Georges River / St George comp. They still let me in despite not being Catholic or living in the Illawarra...

And those skills you talk about, I'm sure you'll miss my HUGE batting average of 8.38! Did have a bowling average of 3 though ;-)

There should at least be 1 FTA live game on friday, saturday and sunday
1 live game a weekend is f**kin rubbish
Sick of having to stream games..I'm not going to buy Foxtel just for NRL

If foxtel made a package where you just got the sports channels I'd get it, but you have to pay for the basic package and then extra for the sports channels, f**k that. This is why I have no issue with illegal streams.

Yeah nah Pete's right, so what we've gotta put up with the same crappy coverage for another five years despite the fans pleading for a better deal, as long as everyone is getting paid, happy days right?

Tim and Pete supporting the status quo, imagine my surprise

This moronic "games still won't be in HD" thing is funny.

They WILL be from 2014, after analog is switched off.

pissweak. Games should be in HD from yesterday.

Canberra can be whatever it likes, the SD signal is sent out from the OB at the ground and is beamed around the country on 9 or GEM as required. They won't do it until everyone in Australia can get HD (ever tried broadcasting HD into an Analog set? unfortunately a few million nation wide haven't switched over yet). That's the story.

They've said that NRL will be broadcast in HD from 2014, not sure how much clearer that can be.

herpaderpaderp. Just to clarify. pissweak.

That said. The money is excellent. The downside is that it's a lost opportunity to make such much need changes in the relationship between the NRL and its broadcasters.

I don't expect the NRL will be taking full advantage of the opportunities offered by high speed internet, but I hope to be proven wrong.

I don't expect Channel 9 to stop shitcanning the game, to improve the quality of their coverage, or to show the international game the slightest shred of respect.

I hope the pre-scheduling means a fairer allocation of games for teams like the Warriors, Canberra, and Cronulla, even allowing for the inevitable Bronco Night Football :)lol: Pete, pull your head in). Again though...why would Channel 9 change when they've been given no incentive to? On a side note - apparently nothing forcing Nine to show games live in Melbourne or Perth.

As for the 7.15 GF - I liked the twilight one but it's dead set the biggest non-issue in the game.

On the scheduling. Sunday Night's not too bad. Seems odd that it's only some weeks. Maybe it will be every week once we add 2 new teams. I would have preferred Saturday Arvo. 3 live games.

Speaking of expansion... No word on it.

Summary - good money, but some lost opportunities. 9 are grade A merkins and have no incentive to improve, and I fully expect that they won't.

From what I picked up, doesn't sound like there will be any expansion under this five year contract.

There was actually word, and it was very negative toward expansion.

Charles Brohnson was a merkin who was rightfully banned, because you're a tosser who feels the need to suck the dick of every other Dragons' fan on this forum you pretend he actually contributed something of value to this forum.

Supporting the status quo would be the NRL accepting $500 million for some tv coverage that people would inevitably still be pissed off about.

I'm supporting the possibilities that have presented themselves due to the amount of money that's available and the long-term success this deal has forged. It's not perfect and I agree with some of your reasons but on the surface it's a good deal.

Now, it's up to the commission to spend this money wisely. Grass-roots, sustainability of clubs and growth (domestic and international) is how I'll measure it.

Agreed. I trust the ARLC to to quite well from this...within Australia. If they have a positive impact on International RL i'll be pleasantly surprised, but no one of influence in Aus RL has given a shit for years.

It's 9 who I don't trust.

And apparently Gyngell was shaking his head about it off camera. Feel sorry for the people putting bids in.

Imo... Bears are f**ked. This disappoints me greatly. Was looking forward to a return to the golden age of 1995...

I don't think it was the right time to speculate about expansion opportunities as it may have taken the gloss off the deal they just arranged.

Grant did seem overly down on it though. Seemed more concerned about the sustainability of the existing clubs and grass roots.
