Fire could be onto something, although I suspect it has more to do with the current state of the Titans more than anything.
Obviously would have like to have seen more FTA coverage (at least an extra live game would have been sweet) but IMO it was imperative we maximised the value of the tv rights for the establishment of this game. From all reports 7 and 10 weren't throwing anywhere near the same amount of coin as 9.
Don't think the quality would be much better on rival networks either. Have heard murmurs from AFL fans that they hate the 7 coverage as much as we hate 9 & I doubt there's many commentators they could have hired that would improve that portion of the game. Besides, I reckon Rabs will pack it in within the next 5 and I can't see Hadley lasting more than a year or two at most, they're already limiting his opportunities favouring Vossy for the Sunday slot.
