You see Dave, I only hop on the forum during work time. You don't really think I'd waste my recreation time sitting at a keyboard reading your views on footy, morals, the state of the nation and what movie Maximus is making next, do you ??? :)

Rusty's playing a dark humoured Sherriff of Nottingham in a blockbuster remake of Robin Hood.

I didnt mean that you were hiding from LU duties either but I admire your work ethic.

Thankyou Dave. It is hard at times though, to keep clients, owners and employers all happy when I also have to spend sooo much time educating those that have not graduated to being Dragons supporters. ;-)

I have warmed to the Saints this year through yours and father's kind and knowledgable teachings.

I have applied these hidden maxims to my life outside of the forum and have duly benefitted.

But of course, I was born deep in the shire, so my birthright is sharkhood.

As a child of the league, I saw however the glittering lights of the inner city and I havent been back. The enchantment of Souths, a deep spell from which one never wants to escape. The power, the glory that is Souths, well, its on the next level.

Having said that, I cannot draw free and open sword against my scaley- finned homelanders without due cause or rabbit direction and I must admit that I verily do hope for a premiership for them in my lifetime.

While my local side, the lads who protect my current home, they are the Panthers! They too have earned my respect and distanced favour.

All your teachings have drawn me to this one truth in life:

NSW is on life-support, only Noddy and Merrit can save us!

From R2K:

The St.George Leader reports today that secret talks aimed at
fielding a joint Cronulla-St.George-Illawarra Premier League team
next year have been put on hold for the time being.

The main points of the article are:

* Sharks's CEO Greg Pierce confirmed a meeting with Peter Doust at
St.George Leagues Club.

* At least one Dragons' board member had expressed strong opposition
to a Dragons-Sharks Premier League side.

* Doust agreed the JV was a viable option for his club. "Just as
Parramatta has linked with Mt.Pritchard and the Roosters have
Newtown," he said. "But nothing has progressed and we have to look
at the Carlton League options, so we won't be rushed."

* Cronulla may use Barden Ridge or field a proper Cronulla side if
the Dragons' JV is shelved.

* The Dragons' Premier League side may still be run by the
Shellharbour Marlins, Wests and Dapto.

* The St.George District appears to have been overlooked completely.

* Illawarra are opposed to the Cronulla JV.

More like a play group .

Sounds good btw don't slam the door walking scummers.

Story of the modern Dragons anyone or any place except the SGRLFC district .

* Illawarra are opposed to the Cronulla JV.

Well done Illawarra . St.George-Cronulla = Manly-North Sydney at any level is a disaster of the super league kind .

Unbelievable that such a thing could even be considered. I've always thought that some of the people in power at St George are utterly debased. The Geoff Carrs, Danny Robinsons and Warren Lockwoods. They tried to sell us to Easts unnecessarily and then merged us with Illawarra when it would have been easier to stand alone. They abandoned Kogarah even though it was more viable to stay. What the hell is wrong with them?

A Joint Venure arragnement with The Scum really would be the last straw for many including myself.

As Saints fans we need to rise up and oppose this as vehemently as possible.

Indeed, the blurring of lines is something that I have a massive problem with. Should we merge, who gets who? Are we just going to funnel juniors into Cronulla now?

I think we should *Shock Horror* rise up and fight this with Cronulla fans as a united front. As the old saying goes, the enemy of my enemy is my friend. They'd be as opposed to this as we would be. Lets make sure these dickheads in the head office are taught a lesson.

I'll join you, but not before both Leagues Clubs are in smouldering ruin.

There's NO WAY I could ever support or be involved at all with any merger of this kind.
there seems to be one common denominator in this, and as the banner say's, it's time to.......

My sentiments exactly.

As I said, both clubs supporters need to rise up and fight this. If there is ever one thing I'll agree on with a Cronulla supporter, it's that this merger is one that would destroy both clubs at a supporter base.

The fact that Doust even had a meeting about this prove's beyond any possible doubt in my mind that he is a man who must be removed from any position of power as soon as poosible . That anyone who even read about our two clubs history or knew how how our supporters feel about each other would think about merging after they tried to murder both our joint venture clubs during the S.L war should be covered in used cooking oil , feathered and run out of proper Australian society to some third world club like the Sharks where the damage he did would'nt matter .

Couldn't have said it better myself.

If this was to go through I'd seriously consider f**king the club off in disgust until Doust is permanently removed - Legally or not.

Meanwhile over at WORL they're getting their excuses in early

from one point of view it makes great sense ...

We take the juniors from them and make it more obvious that the scum should be playing out of Gosford/Perth/Adelaide ...

Its a step towards pissing the off ...

However the cloak and dagger aspect of it all is a little shoddy

There was a time when being a Sutherland junior meant you were a Saints junior.

If this is part of a grand plan to re-engineer this, then I'm all for it. Long as we keep the colours, jersey, shorts etc.............

You can expect that tickle to become a flood if it actually happened.

Just as with the merger itself, standing alone in the lower grades. the Steelers jersey and the split of games. It's always unconscionable before hand and acceptable afterwards.
