i played league on synthetic in japan.... no real problems with skin, bounce etc....
i can see why councils are looking at it. our comp has been creuelled with washouts... some teams are 4-5 games behind....
councils are probably sick of clubs complaining cause they pay a lease and get to use the ground less than 50% of the season...

Just out of curiosity, would this technically give manly an even BIGGER home ground advantage? seeing as though they play on the synthetic turf, train on it... know how it feels , how the ball will bounce, how fast they can run on it?

Other teams would only get to play on it twice a year.

Maybe i'm just over thinking things

Does anyone remember the short lived Channel 7 show, 'The Hard Yards' ?

Thought it was ok, would like to see something similar

I have done a little bit of reading about synthetic turf since this story broke.

It appears the best synthetic turf available at the moment is called Matrix Artificial Turf. When the Dallas Cowboys built their new stadium a couple of years back this is the turf they used.

Turf Toe seems to be the most common injury caused by the surface. I have suffered from this injury and though it has a funny name, it is not s funny injury. The injury can take a number of weeks to get over and is very painful.

Supposedly knee and ankle injuries are a lot less common with artificial turf then real grass. It seems studs on boots don't get caught up in the artificial grass as they do in the real stuff. Yes grass burns do still happen with artificial grass but not to the degree it once did.

If they do lay it at Brookvale it could create a problem for the sports played their and the different field markings they need.

As someone else here mentioned artificial turf and heat are not a good match. You can get some serious burns from the turf
