At least in Rugby League and Union I know when to catch the bus or train as most games finish after 80 mins yet your game know's no time as it's shorter then all Football codes yet last's for around 4 hours,no wonder your country is fat as f**k plus I feel sorry the big bastards players who never get a hand on the ball.

Oh boohoo, fancy that, paying for something and it goes over longer then what it should, if thats your gripe then ffs.

Doesn't seem to bother the 70,000-100,00 at the games

Because their arent that many fat f**k aussies either that support league lol

Why do you have to touch the ball? it doesnt seem to stop the millions playing the game now does it

I'm boring because I don't hang out in a carpark?

And it's alluding not eluding. I wasn't hiding from anyone. :p

Ftr I appreciate and respect the football culture of the US, particularly the college system. But just because something works in the US doesn't mean it will work here. And it certainly doesn't mean it's automatically better.

No, just that your simply against it.

Blame my on screen keyboard.

I am not saying it would work, actually i doubt it would with the mentality of pissheads and red neck league fans, but i could think of worse ideas of making the game more of an event.

I'm not against it, but I personally would not go and have a hot dog in a car park. It's just not my scene man.

And it certainly isn't an anti American thing. I just don't eat cooked meats in carparks.

They would but Australians population is much smaller plus you got 4 f**king Footballcodes.

Doesn't stop the AFL from getting crowds

Is the NRL on next season? might have to head to maccas for some free tickets if it is:lol:

Because unlike the vast world of the USA the AFL's big crowds are mostly from a massive Cricket ground in the dulls of Victoria, plus they have teams swarming all over the Aussie joint yet Rugby League is still the 1 in NSW and QLD.

Ive watched NFL for 20 years and enjoy it often.

But when it comes to my favourite sport to watch, League smashes it every time. I realise that in the end a lot of this comes down to the culture you were raised in, parental influence etc.

I find NFL, especially when shown live to be a bit on the tediuos side in respect of length of game and stop start nature. Now a nice 60min edited version that cuts out all the time outs, ads, breaks etc. is fairly enjoyable.

I still maintain that if the NRL were the only major football competition in a country of 300million + there would be the same amount of money, crowds etc. as the NFL.

There are a lot of funny/interesting/silly/immature/bigoted comments in this post.

I suppose I should have expected that when I started the thread.

But I think Canard's comment above sums up the argument pretty well...very fair.

as said it is the event that is appealing, the BBQ I went to next to the Les Gilberts stadium in Perpignan was great fun, got the chance to talk RL with all sorts of people in a relaxed social setting, had a good feed, few decent beers before the game and generally made attending the game more enjoyable. I don;t see what's not to like? In many ways this happens already but you have to be rich enough to sponsor the club and be a corporate then you get wined and dined by the club pre game, for us plebians this is a good way of getting a similiar experience. I'd love to see the supporters groups of clubs organising it as social events for fans. We have been thinking about something for visiting fans when/if Perth get back in.
