I have huge wraps on Blake Mullen. He is a great defender and a workhorse? Im not sure on the correct tackle count but didn't he make like 50+ tackles in one match.
He could turn out to be a Nathan Hindmarsh.

Blake Meuller ;-)

And I think it was 65 tackles

Yer Meuller thats it.

Jarrod Mullen was our best player in our GF winning SG Ball side this year and won the Carlsen award as our best junior.

He is a 5/8 - but I think he could play halfback if he wanted to.

5 months on, do we still see this as a likely 2007 team?

I'd suggest that the likes of Carmont, Quinn, Witt, Tilse (obviously), Tanner and others won't be there. Obviously Mullen is a likelihood, and Brad Tighe would have to be a possibility too.

I'm curious to see whether we still agree with some of these teams -- I hope our side isn't still relying on a player like Carmont (this isn't a vendetta, he's only an example) in 2007. Hopefully by that stage the mistakes made thusfar will be reversed and promising juniors will have been promoted.

at this rate we may not have a freaking team in 2007...

I mean if you listen to the admin, after Joey retires we might as well give it up....

hope Tilse comes back to us, dont blame him if he doesn't.

Witt.....

Carmont...

What a great season that will be if thats the team. :|

Roopy some of those players won't be in the side, i'm hoping we at least recruite some players because that side will get lapped by 60 evbery week. I'd like to see....

1- Nathan Hinton
2- Anthony Quinn
3- Brad Tighe
4- Jamal Lolesi
5- Dustin Cooper
6- Jarrod Mullen
7- Brett Firman
8- Adam Woolnough
9- Danny Buderus (c)
10- Dane Tilse
11- Steve Simpson
12- Kade Snowden
13- Daniel Abraham

14- Kirk Reynoldson
15- Clint Newton
16- Ashton Sims
17- Kurt Gidley

Three good buys in Lolesi, Firman and Sims really would add alot to the side and all three we could easily afford with gidley and Johns money.

IMO that is a realistic team and Don't forget, Reyno is on contract till 08. Don't be suprised if Johns go's around again in 2007. If we have the making of a good side i think the possible chance of a premiership might lure him to a one year deal and do you think Hages will say no?

know something we dont roops?

either way we are going to get lapped unless/until they have an NRL standard club structure/admin behind them...
I mean Sam Wooden - the current fullback in Flegg - not Grant Wooden the prop forward.
Sam Wooden isn't fast enough to be a back, and isn't quite big enough to be a forward yet (he does play lock sometimes though) but he is a magical broken field runner and a really hard worker. I think he will grow and become a really good utility player with great moves - he is a long shot - but you can go for long shots two years out.

Roopy i still don't agree with you.

My arguments are that alot of the players you have named just won't be ready for first grade then. Now you might come out and say how most of our previous stars debuted at about 19 or 20 but that came into a winning team.

They debuted into a team that was full of rep stars and experienced players. How are these young blokes supposed to make the transition with Hagan as coach and Simpson, Buderus the only Star players?

Firman's signed to a three year deal. Won't be available until 2008. I'll tell you what, you can have Walker.

No deal, wouldn't be suprised if Firman and Stuart came to blows by the end of thsi season. ;-)

... pass.

I wouldn't want Firman at the club either, just quietly.

RABK - the answer to that last question is.... by losing. Look at the Tiges - great crop of younguns and a few older guys, can cause an upset every now and then but its generally thought that they are a few years off peak. Unfortunately by then rival clubs will have picked the squad apart. That will probably be our future as well unless we get the front of house in order.

I think the more salient point is the coach - will he give the young guys a shot (or for that matter, recruit...) or will he keep playing the same old heads?

The only ones I've named who haven't played firstgrade already are Hinton, Uate, Abel, Mullen and Wooden.

Hinton could play firstgrade now, and he will be 22 and on top of his game in 2 years.

Uate is only about 17 or so at the moment - but he would be the fastest guy at the club already. By 2007 he will be a year older than Tahu was when he made his debut and could be the fastest player we have ever had. He could run in the Olympics with proper training.

Abel is stuck in Flegg at the moment - but would handle Premier League with ease right now, and will be 100kg, fast and skillful and 22 years old in two years.

Mullen is a prodigy. He will be 20 in 2007 and have two years of Premier League and probably a lot of firstgrade behind him by then. He will be our halfback and playmaker by then.

Wooden - I just threw in because I think he has something that will develop in time to something special - or he could lose his footwork and be another Mark Hughes.

But considering the salary cap has destroyed us over the past 3 years wouldn't it be fair to say that the tide is about to swing? The teams that have recruited well from the top clubs might have a case of Karma come their way in the next two years.

Either way if Hagan is there it's safe to say that 90% of the side Roopy named would be the Roosters premier league side come 2007.

eerm Jamie, we are trusting the same mob who signed a bench 2nd rower to 250k a year to put together our future squads.... I cant see the tide swinging until they are gone. I cant see them going until we change structure. We wont change structure with the current 'old boys' board..... vicious cycle? you bet.

Lets hope our juniors can provide some joy - and lets hope they are playing for us.

geez...your all looking far ahead...i do assume recruitment "may" (please note i strongly influence that word) occur..thus providing us with a decent forward pack...fingers crossed...think the $$ to spend once johns is gone...and assuming the knights would have fallen to pressure and done the right thing and privatised the club....
