Surely he has had his chances??? It will really make me wonder if the coaching staff cannot see what EVERYONE else in football knows, that Walsh is a good kicker and that is all. Even his kicking of late is terrible, so he really offers nothing IMO.

Well Blake Austin needs to take this chance now it has been offered but surely he knows that after all the time Walsh has been given to perform over the past years.

Lets hope there is no last minute reprieve, if Walsh hasn't performed by now surely they can see that he won't anytime soon.

That was my first thought, but it's Walsh.

Actually if it were the case he wouldn't be named for Windsor would he?

Remember Coote last year? a late inclusion or Jennings had his worst game ever for Windsor yet next time he was available bang in the team

Anyone else worried that if we don't win with Austin having a man of the match performance, that Luke Walsh will be recalled immediately and not even considered for axing again?

There's also the chance that Walsh gets recalled on game day like Coote did last season after being "dropped for disciplinary reasons". I'm hoping that Austin and Humble both carve up and that it's impossible to justify dropping either of them. Although I could still see Cleary just moving Austin to lock so that Walsh can keep his spot.

I am thinking we will get flogged. It wont be because of Humble/Austin it will be the rubbish players around them.

JT will lift his form Scott and Tamou's been very soft they will lift

If Austin plays well there is no reason to drop him.

But even if he plays like shit...people will make excuses for him because it isn't Walsh who has to play with the same shit around him....right?

It's a double standard.

If we are saying Walsh is shit, which I think he has played like this year, but he should have played much better...then why shouldn't Austin who we say is a mile better have the same performance expectation? So we lower the expectation for him because he isn't Walsh?

For the record I hope he smashes it and leaves little doubt that he is a first grader and should be one of the first picked each week.

Coote was only a late call up for Titans game because Mansour got injured in training.

Yeah but if he 'needed' the week at Windsor call up someone else. As for the post above. I ask you this if we have Austin in 7 & Walsh in Windsor do we win on Sunday?? I say no. Not that I am sad he was dropped.

Put Austin in the 13 it helps our attack & Cleary gets his Walsh in the team.

He should have a grace period, as with Humble. And if he isn't working out I'd want him given a chance in the back row before being dropped.

If it doesn't work others in the team need to be dropped. It's fine for Walsh to go but if the team is still losing then it's not just the half to blame

Hard to tell what tye plan is here. Austin needs at least 5/6 weeks at halfback in firstgrade and Walsh needs at least 5/6 weeks in reggies. If Walsh tears it up in that time and we shift Austin to lock I'm happy.

Mick you can't compare Austin in his first game back to Walsh's chances over the last 3 years. Walsh has had very good teams around him at various points in the last few years and hasn't delivered consistently.

I'm not saying Austin should be picked irrespective of his form but there is no hypocrisy in defending him if he plays poorly this week while not wanting to return to Walsh.

Yeah you cant judge him if he has one bad game in his first appearance this season. If he is playing shit for a month with no promising signs, then you can judge him and say Walsh is as good or better. Although if he is killing it from the first game then it stands to reason he will keep improving. Just hoping he shows promising signs regardless of winning or losing.

I'm not saying he will have a shocker. But what I will find interesting is the analysis post game.

Like I said I hope he smashes it. I don't want to see him leave the team. I want him to grab it by the balls.

I don't hold Walsh solely responsible for the loss on Sunday. So I can't blame Austin if we lose in similar situation on Sat night.

some examples.
When we spread it on the 5th and Smith got tackled with it. If Smith passes that and we score it's great work from Walsh.
Walsh tackled on the 4th (He ran it for a change) the ball goes to Whare puts a kick out.
Late in the game Walsh puts Wes into a gap he drops it with line open.

Put Austin in the 7 these same errors happen. Yet the critisim will be different I am sure

A rookie half is a lot different from a half thats played 100 games, the criticism should be a bit different for a little while atleast.
