If both Victor Radley and Cam Murray can get “independent doctor” clearance after swaying like drunks at 3am closing time, then Mitch will play next week.

No changes in our side. Simply because our 7 is being held together with sticky tape. Marata was exposed by fast feet Friday night, so moving him to centre if we lose Mitch again is not great. Playing Carty or Matto at 6 does not solve any problems. Both those players will also be exposed to fast feet in defence and then expose Brown as the only tactical kicker. You need your 6 to be a sweeper in D. Brown is not the greatest of kickers beyond 40m out, so It’s easy pickings to rush a merkin when you don’t have an alternative kicker. I guess Rheed has that low kick.

I would support a fullback or winger on the bench, if that switcheroo results in Gutho at 6 ONLY IF we end up with a competent fullback. Meaning that I don’t want a player who can “do a job” at fullback, because like it or not Jake “can do a job” at 7. Doing a job is not enough. Even doing a job better than the other guy can or can’t do a job is not enough.

It’s a shame that Rankin has made himself unavailable, cos he would have solved many ^^^^ questions.

After watching Raiders and Cows, Sharks, none are in the same league as Pennys however the Cows have a very good team across the park, and I think, better than ours.

This is what i don't understand. Why don't we have a specialist fullback playing in reggies. In changes all the time. Rankin was even there. Do they think guth will never get injured. Do they think simmonssen can play there without practice

I actually think if guth went down, the plan is Moses to fb and ja at half. That's what happened last year

I would've been grooming Russell at fullback and have him play there when he returned from injury and Sivo had come back. Now we have too many wingers

It reminds me when ba once said, they never thought of a replacement for hooker maybe 2 years back

I think we are punchers chance if we make the prelim.

We wont be favourites which will help. The cowboys will have all the pressure off 25k north qld people riding on them to win.

The atmosphere will be hostile but if we start fast and make the Cows nervous early and take the crowd out stagefright could happen.

Humidity is a concern though at this time of the year. Hopefully our Darwin experience helps from the past 8 years.

Do people think Jakes kicking game is better then his? I've seen nothing to suggest that.

Waqa plays because despite being a shit-merkin against Penrith, the Raiders halves do not have those kind of kicks in them, and their kick chase and line speed is nothing like Penrith's, so there isn't the same level of pressure by a long shot.

Jakey will be picked, but like others I'd be advocating another forward on the bench, Raiders big men will challenge ours and even if we are on top fatigue will be a factor, another body to throw in the middle to reduce minutes as an option would be a plus. On top of which, should we win we are headed to play a game in conditions that will really push the big guys hard the following week. Having the option to give them less minutes should the game allow would again be advantageous.

If Moses doesn't play it's all moot, we'll need every other merkin to be at their best, and Jakey has to be there 'cause despite his kicking game not being great it's gonna be better than any other player we can name, and kicking will be super important. We don't wanna be relying on Gutho / Drown / Rheed to pick up the slack, their long kicks aren't good enough and you need to have the options either side of the ruck. I'd also prefer Drown to be in the kick chase rather than kicking, 'cause he's far less likely to be beaten one on one by a back on kick return.

You're right if Moses doesn't play it's a moot point. We're zero chance of even competing if he isn't in the team.

The next man up principle at many teams is not even remotely considered with our mob. We just seem to have players come in that neither the coach, other players or fans have zero faith in.

In the games I’ve watched Bryce he’s been far from bad defensively. He’s been solid. I’d go as far to say he’s a better defender than ja.

Since Russell has been back from injury, he has been used in the position in cup that he is most likely to be needed in FG. If he wasn’t being groomed as a winger, merkins would have been critical. You can’t win really.
