What has he done right to justify inclusion in any NRL 17?
He is basically a wasted talent because he never learnt to defend. Whatever talent he has with ball in hand is offset by the fact he will most likely produce a glaring defensive lapse.

He is basically a hail Mary type - throw him in if desperate for a try or two with 5 minutes to go.

Not sure how you can bag JA and like BC

JA is a sloth. So so so slow. I’d would like JA in the team if there was an injury to the halves. JA is not a bench player. Bryce offers impact off the bench and can cover a few positions. JA is the son of the coach is not there on his merits.

Fair enough if that is what you think re: Bryce.

I agree on JA - SO SLOW, and a terrible defender when in the halves (if you watch him, he gets his hops and shoulders rotating inwards towards the lead runner, and then can't turn and cover across. It's chronic right now. If he hits, he sticks often enough, but he is Cody Walkers wet dream in terms of a flat footed inward turning defender at the 3 spot).
However, having just said that about JA, I prefer him to Bryce because I don't see that Bryce can actually cover any position... in the middle Bryce will get caught out defensively, and he is far worse than JA in terms of planting feet and turning in.
JA can at least cover hooker, which Bryce can't. And given RCG and Paulo and Matterson could play a full game if required, we may as well pick a guy who can cover the halves and has at least some kind of kicking game. I'm all for picking a teenager to develop in the 5-6 minute per game slot over a proven dud-commodity.
If it was completely up to me, it would be a player who is first and foremost a dummy half, with speed off the mark. But I don't see one of those at the club right now... you know who to blame for that!!

Get Jakey in the top paddock in the off season. He'd be like if Wade Graham and Ryan Matterson had a baby.

Get on it MON.

Yeah, i posted something similar a few days back.

When I analyzed it, hooker is our most vulnerable position in the event of an injury. Guth and Dyl can fill in at hooker but then we lose alot in those 2 positions. There is really no real understudy for fullback. Perham is in NSW Cup but Rankin was playing there not too long ago.

If we had an up and coming back who has had more NRL games (which leaves out Russell) maybe Simmonssen, then he could be the 14 to cover for the backs and for hooker by rotating Guth. But Simmonssen has brain exploisions so not sure about him. He would be lightning supporting Lane and he is now safe under the bomb but it is the defense and organization of the defense which has question marks.

So at the end of the day, JA is the best fit. He defends ok in the middle but definitely agree with his poor defence wider out. Just too slow.
The only other player who is a better fit than JA in terms of skill (but not experience) is Captain Rankin. He could fill in 1-7 easily and could probably play a bit of hooker.

His defence in the middle I dont know about and whether he will put his body on the line (JA at least does that).
But in terms of coverage and skills, Rankin I would say is the best fit. Next is JA
