They will be very motivated after losing to Newcastle. They dont want to spend another week covered in Bellamy spit.

Saying that it's a protest about pay is disingenuous and designed to get people pissed off.
It's about way more than that.

Clint Newton is a deadset grandstanding muppet, after just being given a 37% pay rise in the current climate the players just look greedy and entitled. It’s been two years the idiot needs to step aside and let someone capable sort this out.
I’m calling it now - he’ll run for parliament (either state or federal) for the Labor party within the next 5 years.

The RLPA are only trying to protect players rights. If they are in the wrong, then how?

It seems a tad hypocritical to criticise and describe the sentence structure and figurative language used in the press release as juvenile and then just go after the character of the CEO.

Has anyone actually read it ? No thoughts on min wage or insurance ? Profit sharing ? All they are seeking is mediation with a binding expert determination. Why won’t the ARLC agree to this ? Because they know they will be forced into reasonable outcomes.

We’ve been down this path before. Who owns the game ? The players or the merkins who have slotted themselves into positions of power and are strong arming themselves like they built a billion $$ business themselves based on their skill and intellectual property, now treating the players like expendable KMart staff.

It's a 2way street isn't it? Those merkins in positions of power are there because they can raise higher $ and provide equitable shares across clubs, and manage what the players cannot.
I think the ones currently there are doing a reasonable job.

In terms of the minimum wage - how many players actually play for minimum wage? 5 per club? A lower minimum wage in an annually increasing salary cap means what for players 1-25 in the squad?
Really, I want to see the better players rewarded, not the backup of the backups being paid 10k per year more. Those guys are basically in the squad in case of severe injury crisis...

I suppose there are different ways of looking at it.
I had no idea what the strike was all about until reading that FAQ - and to be honest, it put me off the players position. It is disingenuous from the start. It is about higher pay (requested in Dec 2022), and just because they haven't increased their demands since then doesn't mean that isn't what the dispute is all about....
