Team v Broncos

People seem to forget that Locke has not been in that great of form since 2011, he has had a few great games here and there and been solid in most but never really threatens the line consistently, also his defense at the back is not as great as it once was . This could be put down to his injury troubles over the last year and a half but in saying that he should only be playing if he is 100% injury free anyway. The Fish fully deserves to keep his spot based on his performances at fullback this season. He is an exceptional support player and has has really manned up when going into contact, not to mention he is quite possibly the fastest player in the NRL. His defense has improved out of site as well. So for me it is Fish's spot to lose and Locke is just going to have to bide his time on the bench/wing or even better rest up and get himself 100% as I think he is a vital part of our team, especially if the Fish looses form or gets injured.

Some of you guys would be awful selectors! Fickle f*kers!

C'mon its a no brainer. On what grounds does Fish deserve to usurp Locke?

Locke will sure know that if his form dips there is a guy hot on his heels for his spot. Its a great position for the warriors to be in, but Locke deserves the inside running based on past performances + recent form. Fish doesn't have the credit in the bank - some recent form yes, but it was only three or four games ago that Fish was being lambasted here for lame performance, probably by the same drop Locke for Fish crowd on this thread (although I am far too lazy to check).

What lame performances? You referring to last year when every player bar Matulino were playing like reserve graders?

Before one month ago, Fish hadn't had a good first grade game--and had some shockers especially on defense. He's just *starting* to prove himself with a few good performances. Let's not get carried away.

Locke has been solid for years. Yes 2011 was his best so far but in the few games before he got injured he was looking on top of his game: solid at back as usual but also really threatening at the line and assisting tries.

If he's 100% healthy, I'd pick Locke at #1 in a second. Fish needs to perform like this for at least a few more weeks or months before he threatens Locke's starting spot.

I'm guessing Locke is still not 100%, or he will end up starting even though not named Tuesday.

It's entirely possible, the last half of 2012 and first third of 2013 season have somewhat blended into one long nightmare.

Anyway, they are both playing well, I'll leave it to Elliot to make the call..

Haha Fish has been great this year on the wing and fullback. Shut down many plays from the wing that would of resulted in tries if not for exceptional reading of play and knowing when to come in and stay out. Then when moved to his preferred position of fullback he has starred in every game except the Panthers one (who did though). 2012 has a horror year for the whole club and the Fish did not play well, but so did 90% of the team. This year with proper coaching he is looking like the super star that he is and is one of the form fullbacks of the whole comp. Locke only got his chance at fullback because of Fish getting injured, why can't the Fish be afforded the same luxury?

Ah the old Locke/Fish debate is back. Ironic considering neither of them will probably be at fullback come the start of 2014.

As much as I don't think Laumape deserves the dropping, I would rather see Fish on the wing with Locke at the back. If we get Tomkins then Fish will be third in line for fullback. We'd be better served long term giving him as much time and experience on the wing as he can get.

If Locke moves into the halves then they are not going to be switching him back and forth everytime Tomkins is out. Fish will be the back up fullback I'd say.

Aaaah... no. Locke 'got his chance' (read: took back HIS spot) at fullback because he returned from injury. Fish being available or otherwise had literally nothing to do with it - even if he was available, he would have been on the wing accomodation a fit Locke. Fish has had a few really good games in the last few weeks... but Locke hasn't been any worse this year, and is still the best fullback we have right now.

If (and only if) Locke is 100%, Fish and Laumape fight it out for the right wing spot. If not, Locke can wait it out.

Even though we've won a few on the trot and dished the smack to the Bronco's last time I feel a little uneasy about this game.
Last time we met a team decimated by injury no origin players and a suspension or two, the way the Broncos players played in origin the other night and a lot of other players back it could be a hard day on the paddock

I mean in 2011 when Locke initially took over the fullback spot, Fish started at fullback against the Sharks and absolutely carved them, then got injured vs the Roosters and that is when Locke took over the fullback spot full time (against the Titans if I remember correctly).
