Yes he has. Earlier in his career I recall him playing fullback against the Roosters. The previous week he'd played fullback and dropped a stack of bombs. This game with the half time hooter sounding the Roosters kicked it deep. Ropati ran it back full steam into the defence holding it in one hand, dropped the ball, and the Roosters scored. Almost as bad a play as Godinet's today.

He was much better in his next stint. The fact though is he's miles off where he needs to be physically to play first grade, full stop. Fisiiahi should be first picked at fullback if available, otherwise Tuimavave who did a good job last year. Ropati should be playing for the Vulcans exclusively. He's a joke.

This.

He has given the Warriors many years of loyal service, but enough is enough. You could argue that he has costed us the Melbourne game and we were very lucky to squeak home yesterday. Both of those should have been comfortable wins with a centre who could defend, both Idris and Chambers owned him so bad it was embarrassing.

Ropati doesn't deserve a spot ahead of the other contenders.
Elliott specifically stated early in the season sides would be picked soley on form.

Yep, Ropati might do a fine job at fullback but he so doesn't deserve to play next week. That effort on Idris was simply awful. He simply had to tackle him low and cut him down. How is Carlos playing? He looked the goods last season with limited opps in first grade...

Godinet's awesome run and then massive brain explosion reminds me of one times K.Inu...

Our entire mental and physical preparation, plus game-plan tactics has to center on being rock solid for the last 20 mins of the game as every team we play currently back themselves to run us down even if 30 behind. Maybe an incentive scheme - 1g fine or reward for bad plays/great plays in the last quarter...(or just Vulcanize idiocy).

Just quickly on this - yes it was a silly option but he wasn't passing to nobody - Johnson was sniffing around him and in all likelihood called for the ball but was then run off his line by a Titans defender. Godinet was passing to where Johnson would have been.

Pretty simple really. Fish plays fullback, if he is out, then Ropati plays fullback. Godinet can't catch & frankly is only up to 25 - 30 minutes a game. Keep him in #17 for mine. Perfect impact player, but not good enough to start at this level.

Just on Carlos, i'd play him in the Vulcans for the whole year. Let him develop, along with Hurrell.

its all these no look passes. we're not good enough to be doing them.

if he was looking properly, he would have seen the guy next to him was the ref not SJ.

hopefully Elliot sorts this out at training.

true, and I think he spotted the refs black shorts and sox and let the pass go.. was a try if the wearer of the clothes was a Warrior..

shit happens, kid's allowed a mistake..

Jeez mate, don't let the truth get in the road of a good story.

And while we are at it, why don't we single someone out. Someone who has given his all for the club over the years. Make him the scapegoat and take the focus off the fact that the rest of the mob around him are playing like a useless flock of girls blouses.....bring him up in every post. Make sure the world knows that HE is the only problem...

Except that he really is, literally nobody else had a bad game.

I'd definately give Fish the 1 jersey. If his attitude/application improvement in his limited time in first grade this year is anything to go by he could nail it. Plenty of players were shocking last year

I won't crucify Godinet for the mistake, but end of the day if you pass the ball to thin air then you are most certainly passing to nobody. With time running out and holding a slender lead, you've just done a great run to get 30m from your goal line, if you are going to pass the ball sure as hell make sure it is a 99% risk free.

lol - what a blow up from skinner. At the end of the day, Dean Bell has also given a lot to the club - he was the first captain, one of the first (if not the first) major signing to the club, put in place a good welfare program... but at the end of the day, some of his recruitments are absolutely daft and he gets called out for it. Stacey Jones could barely hobble on one leg in '09 and he got called out for it. Ropati gets called out week in week out because like Stacey and Bell, he gave good service to the game in New Zealand, but accepts the fact to draw a salary he is a professional who should know better.

He deserves everything and more that he's got in this forum. If you want to take about blouses, what about the meltdown you just displayed that he got criticised. Classic.

Good side, but I'll ask before everyone else does...what did Laumape do wrong? This year he's been our most exciting player in FG thus far.

@Blair - Matt Elliott is probably playing the long game RE Laumape. A while back I read comments by Alex Ferguson (among the best football managers ever) saying that Michael Owen should've been much, much better at his peak (and for longer) but his boyhood club Liverpool burned him out by relentlessly playing him every week for years at the top level while he was still developing. And that's a game which is MUCH less physically demanding than league.

It's the only explanation as far as I can see, because Laumape's been very good. I'm happy enough with the team - no Ropati at centre was pretty much the pass/fail benchmark for me.

I think you'll find a few of the ex-U20's will be given a game or two in NSW Cup. Good move

Good team, Fish deserves his chance while Locke is injured and then if he goes well can Tupou's place on the wing when Locke comes back. Ropati back to Vulcans for year, to play FG only if all our centres fall over in a heap, heaven forbid. Agreed on Laumape, Elliott has said he would do this and I agree with it.
