Champion is average player when fit.Maybe just above.Nothing special. We took a chance and it didn't pay off.
With Hoppa going back to centres it doesn't make a difference anyhows if him and taka stay fit.

Too many people on here are used too accepting average. Like I have stated with Gower. Yeah he runs up and tackles. Guys on here cream and give each other neck pecks on how great he is.
Think of a other teams forward packs and which ones he would make.....

He made Manly's pack when they finished top four. And he's a better player now.

Every team needs players like Gower. Hard worker, not lazy, gives his all and can play decent minutes. He has turned out to be an excellent buy for the eels and I doubt he is breaking the bank.

I'd say his career was over when he got injured against the Dogs, or at least his career at the Eels. Off contract, late twenties, a history of injury, and he tears his ACL. He might play again but it won't be with us. Why force him to watch the games?

When did 'average' become something bad?
If you're an average NRL player, then you're exactly what every team needs - a bloke who can fill a spot on a roster, do a decent job and not cost too much money.

Too many people use the term 'average' to mean 'below average'.

He's probably on an average wage too, so he's valuable to the team. Better than someone who is only slightly better than him in terms of ability but on a lot more.

You're an idiot. I mean, yeah, stating the obvious....but, still. Gower is currently our only forward with an offload that's worth a pinch of shit, he does the hard work in defence, and he often starts something in attack, either through an offload, a half break or a good pass. Underrated, not on heaps of cash and outperforms better paid players every weekend.

Sports science that shit.

Yeah, agree with the above.

Whilst not a prolific off loader of the ball, he does it well, and the ball is almost always promoted when he does.

Also can defend well both in tight and on the edges, which makes him fairly versatile.

3. Hoppa
4. Taka
5. Burrito

Not numbered correctly but run on positions Sunday afternoon.

Robbo at fullback may lead to a few brain explosions as we saw at the raiders. And my other concerns is his lack of skill under the high ball but at this stage anything is better better than hoppa at the back..... Hopefully!

Forecast for Newcastle on Sunday is rain and winds up to 35km/h from the south later in the day... Good day to move from the fullback to the centres I reckon!!

Unlucky Reecey!!

Yep, what player on probably a minimal contract can play big minutes on both the edge and middle with a decent offload. While no star he offers great value.

Wonder why it took him so long to cement an NRL spot.
