Who didn't play today that could be a possible selection for next week?

Rapira, Peyroux, Fusitua, Lousi, Hoffman (if fit), Hurrell, Fishiahi, Allwood, Palavi, Lino

Aside from Hoffman, would any of this lot do any better than what was out there today? All season they've either been deemed not upto it or dumped through poor form ie Fish's last feeble effect. I think a lot of this comes down to the coach and his back room staff.

Don't get me wrong, I know the coach can't be blamed for dropping the ball or musing a tackle, but they can certainly be held accountable for motivation, intent, poor selections, bench rotation, wrong game plans, lack of attacking ideas, off field attitude, defensive structures - the list goes on!!

MacFadden has had this team as top dog since May 2014. That's plenty long enough to instil his ethos onto the team. If Hurrell can't tackle properly and on radio this week we all heard MacFadden say Hurrell has had defensive frailties all year, then why havnt the coaches fixed this before now? If Townsends only attacking play is the kick to Manu, why hasn't more been added to his game? Thank f**k he's gone next (hopefully next week). If Tomkins only plays in 5ml sprigs, then why the fk hasn't he handed a bag full of 10ml spikes and the pliers to tighten them??

Yes there's been a lot of injuries to key players, but players are missing from all teams, whether through suspension, SOO or injury. That part of the game. The coach is responsible for building depth.

I'm laying this squarely at the feet of MacFadden. It's his team. He makes the decisions. How can he be trusted to right the ship next season.

Will be looking forward to 5pm Tuesday with interest. But for now, it's time for the ABs.

ATA HINGANO any good at 6?

Agree with a lot in regards to Mcfadden, I think his man management cant be up to scratch, but this is where you know your weakness and have assistance that help, which obviously don't.
We don't know what happens behind the scene, eg the Hurrell issues, is he putting in the effort?

Townsend, is it just he is at his limit of his ability? No matter how much I train, I suspect I would never run a 11 sec 100m or a sub 2 hour marathon.

Tompkins is really an easy fix with the boots!

I dont think we can afford to sack another coach, or will never attract a decent one, But he needs help!

Two questions here, who I would pick and who will be picked.

If Hurrell comes in for Kata next week, it nigh-on confirms McFadden has no idea. A lot of us here were Kata had fallen off a cliff and needed to be dropped, and tonight proved it. He should be dropped, but he probably won't be because it'll again prove that McFadden got it wrong after the dumb Fisiiahi selection.

Havili can bugger off, zero reason to keep picking a defensively-weak under-performer who is going to another club.

But who knows. Who cares?

they have to think of next year... won't happen but I see no point in playing Tomkins and Townsend - give some back ups playing time

Kata needs a break - unless he's geniused his confidence must be shot - oppositions are picking him apart in an embarrassing way

Havili can f**k off too, Friend plays because there aren't really options, and at least he can show kids about professionalism and putting in...

I really dunno - someone said in another thread that it appears these clowns would rather lose 28-14 than grind out a 12-10 win - think that sums it up, no heart for the grind in half the squad, but they love staring down the barrel of the camera after scoring

We literally have nobody better than either Tomkins or Townsend, although Chad deserves some NSW time for that abysmal show. Tomkins at least tries, if we want to win any game this season he should stay on. Hearing some calls for the Fish but he's done next to nothing at this grade as well, he's not an answer just another band-aid.

Kata needs a break, he's shot.

Get the feeling the Hurrell chop did more harm than good, he clearly did something to piss off the coach but axing him has made half the team stop caring. That's the players fault btw.

Even though Havili's usage by McFadden is a joke, he has been at levels of plod not seen since Todd Lowrie.

*

But ultimately it doesn't matter who we field for the rest of this season, I'm picking we'll win one game by about two points while getting flogged for the rest. We're unbelievably weak, we've clocked off early even despite sitting in the top 4 not long ago and playing for our anniversary season.

.

1. Yes - but we've known Kata's shot for a few weeks, why has McFadden not?
2. Yes, Hurrell obviously keeps doing it - McFadden hasn't handled the situation well, and Hurrell seemingly can't grow up... McFadden needs to think long and hard about how he handles it, at the end of the day is it better for the club to have Hurrell or not? The one week down and then come back thing isn't working
3. I am not saying there's anyone better than Tomkins and Townsend - clearly there's not - but they might as well take a look at people who might be the depth options next year now?

The hate for Havilli is weird. I've thought he has been pretty decent, well decent as you can be in sporadic 10 minute stints and sometimes not even getting off the bench. Hell he set up a try for a team which has scored 20 points in 3 games effectively since Johnson went down.

Just out Lino in and puss Townsend off. Lino will be our backup next year so might as well see how he goes.

1. Tomkins
6. Lolo
7. Lino

What is there to lose

First thing is first, we're definitely out now - so there's no point in keeping Townsend in the team (Tomkins is a little different, since he's not playing altogether useless footy and might actually bring something to the team - attitude if nothing else??). I guess where you pick Tomkins (as fullback or in halves) depends on who you want to see in NRL - Hingano, Lino or Fisiiahi? Perhaps even pick two of them, and move Lolohea to the outside backs (allowing us to give Kata a rest, assuming Manu is now also out). If Ikahihifo is on his way then forget him as well, bring in Palavi maybe? At least he's shown some desire/mongrel in NSW cup. I think Roache didn't play this week so I'm assuming he's still unavailable. No point in trying to rush either second rower back.

Maybe something like...

Fisiiahi (only want him in the team if it's at fullback)
Maumalo (get him some sessions in the gym with trampolines for finishing practice!)
Hurrell
Lolohea (future 6, but better three quarter right now and we're down on options there)
Wright
Lino (I'd like to see if there's something there as an option next year)
Tomkins (just to see... and I'd like to keep Hingano developing in lower grades for now)
Gubb (reward visible effort)
Friend (this guy is NOT A GOOD DEFENDER - stop propagating this myth)
Matulino (prop is his position I think)
Palavi (given license to get nasty)
Faitala-Mariner
Mannering (rest him if he's carrying an injury)

Havili (no real alternatives, ditto for Friend to a lesser extent I guess)
Lillyman
Vete
Niukore (a real prospect)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think he's set up two tries since SJ's injury - the kick that resulted in Mannering scoring & the pass to Vete, who crashed over (though the Vete try was a lot more about Vete than the pass).

With Cappys man love for Wright he may as well play in the halves.

Townsend should be dropped if he talks about performance levels.

Arghhhhhh my weekends will be focused on other things
