Incidentally, no one particularly 'wanted' Lino and Ata because we thought it'd be better...it was more Kieran was wasting our time with either half-assed or injured performances. I don't think it matters a shit what we do for the rest of the season so I'm not too phased any more.
We? You can't speak for everyone. I have red on here posts from people saying they don't want Foran and would prefer we get Lino and Ata underway now in preparation for next year. Those people know what they wrote and tomorrow we will see their wish.

Lets see how we go tomorrow.

Croker is a bit of an enigma, but quite a career he's putting together?

WTF Foran is injured, say it ain't so...

He's brought so much , if he's out who will straighten us up and be direct, OMG
Foran hasn't been a 100%. But we know is, he's had 10 try assists, scored 2 tries, leads the pivot halves in tackling and is 4 metres shy of having more run metres than Johnson. Its respectable stats given how crap our team is BEFORE he played and also considering his physical and mental issues.

With Foran out were missing experience in our halves. With or without Foran, we could be looking at a hiding tomorrow but I believe our attack would show patches of controlled footy with Foran around.

I'll be here as long as it takes Doyle to see I can't coach.

Sorted.

Did you say 27.4%?
Has he had that many games against the Knights?
That will change now.

Yeah, but that's different than saying Lino and Ata is the best combination to win games...sorry if I wasn't clear on that. I just mean no one thought it would win more games, just that it was the better option with the future in mind

I see quite a few apologists coming out with this sort of stuff - Foran's actually been quite good, RTS is epic, Mannering is a beast, Johnson is all quality, Kata, Fus and Maumalo and Fus are talented, we're consistently losing by less, the process is working, Doyle's a great operator - he's only had 3 years and mastercoach Kearney only one, it's the forwards that are the problem....

Well - yes, the forwards aren't great, sure, but most seem to think it's the middle that's the issue - so smart operator Doyle and master coach Kearney are chasing Adam Blair like he's Glenn Lazarus - FFS - and Doyle is the one that loaded up the spine at the expense of the pack, and gambled on Foran who no matter what stats get thrown at me I will argue has been underwhelming and all in all a waste of time and money.

I haven't looked up any stats, but since so many love them, I'd imagine that in pretty much any key indicator stats-wise of what a middle forward should be achieving Matulino, Lillyman and Gavet all do better than Blair (who the Broncos wont miss for a second)

As per the other thread, we had a dream draw, a lot of hype, and now we're firmly in the race for the spoon (we'll likely be saved by our dream draw)

Yeah I know some meant the Lino and Ata combination was for the future as I was the one who mentioned it. Like I said before, there WERE some that wanted Lino and Ata on there, more so Ata. Actually those same people that were begging for Ata aint talking about Ata as much as I do now. They said he'd be this and that and when he does nothing or has a crap game, those guys say nothing! You are not one of them.

Apology not needed but it was a little unclear.

Ata and Lino I am hoping to come through. I talk them up more than those guys who brought him on here and now have seemingly ditched him in their posts, not that Ata has given us much to praise.

I believe we'd be worse off without Foran. Cast your mind back to before Foran played for us and if your memory serves you well, which I sure hope it does right now, you will know that Ata and Johnson was running us into the ground. They werent firing. Then Foran comes along and gives us hope on a level thats higher than weve ever climbed to all year. Foran did that. It didnt last but it gave Warriors hope.

We suck period. We know that. We make players play bad. We know that. Then when Foran starts playing bad were all of a sudden 'OMG WTF is happening? Why is Foran playing bad...' oh really? have we forgotten that we suck and make players play bad? put down the gun, f**k the blame game and define the problem.

Forans been half the player he was and at times missing. However Im gutted hes not playing because as foolish as I might sound but...I was still hopeful we can win our next few games lol. Not saying Foran does that cos we lose a lot but I think him playing goes a fair way to shaping our attack to scoring.

There's 2 sides of the coin to the ' apologists' angle though isn't there? Those that think it's the Coaches fault and those that think it's the players. You've made it pretty clear that you don't rate Kearney. That's fine. But for someone who's usually pretty concise and clear in his opinions, the above post just comes across to me as being negative for the sake of it, and bordering on rambling. It feels like you're just piling as much criticism in as possible because it's what you want to do. With the vast majority of your posts, regardless of whether I agree with your point of view or not, I can usually appreciate your opinion. Sort of feels now though, that you've lost any objectivity and you refuse to even acknowledge, let alone consider, that things were maybe just too broken for a quick fix.

Fair enough point. Looking at certain stats those guys prob perform better than Blair in a lot of areas. What about the areas that we are lacking though. I only have to watch Blair and Gavet play to see the urgency and intensity they play with as opposed to Ben jogging and skipping into the line or Jake getting turtled onto his back. The actual lack of momentum provided by those guys is noticeable. I don't need stats to back that up. I'm on the fence about Blair. What I do know though, is its time for a change in a lot of areas. It's not like Doyle and Kearney wouldn't get Jesse Bromwich or Taumalolo or Marty Tapau here if they could. But they can't. So we need to get what we can, and see if it makes a difference. Stats aren't the problem in our forwards. It's attitude and enthusiasm, and mostly, professionalism and leadership off field.

.

I agree that things are too broken for a quick fix - hence why sign a 31 year old journeyman for big coin - when he was placed in a similar situation and was a better player - there was little evidence of leadership or professionalism in his Tigers stint

We've had promising juniors, I really want efforts there in the medium term - happy to miss the finals if I see there's a purpose, all I see now is talk about how good we are and little in the way of improvement or a self evident plan. We're missing the finals anyway, might as well miss it and give the younger players experience so that in a couple of years we can compete - there's so much "oh it will damage them" - well if losing damages them they're not really cut out for the NRL

Sure, I don't rate Kearney, never did - his win rate is plenty of evidence in that respect anyway

And apologies for the loss of objectivity and rambling - self administering an upper cut immediately

Balance on the bench looks a lot better. Papali'i had a good defensive game last week, and hopefully Satae gets a couple of short spells to provide some impact. Starting Lisone isn't a bad tactic for me as he actually does provide impact at the line, and Matulino is better defensively so bringing him on when Lisone starts to lose the plot settles things down.

Ha! Genuinely wasn't having a crack at you. I can see the frustration. I just feel like if I don't have at least some optimism I may as well give up and start supporting another team. I'm definitely not part of the blind faith brigade, just need to believe that some change is happening.

I'm very on the fence about Blair and the rumoured length of the contract. I'd like to think (desperately hope ) that he's matured and narrowed his focus since the Tigers stint though. All the accounts of his professionalism sound like something we desperately need. Not for 4 years on big coin, sure. But we don't seem to have a lot of options.
