So basically wingers and centres don't get penalised statistically for their worst defensive howlers because they end up where the ball isn't
whatever happen to stats dont lie? all of a sudden they now dont tell half a story?

fmd stats DO lie:crazy:. You obviously missed Nielson's 360 degree "Where did everyone go" dance that opened up a huge gap for Billy Slater. Defensive lines rely on partnerships between players. One player f*cking up can put huge pressure on another player defensively, yet that other player will be the one to wear the stat on his record.
maybe. i was too busy watching Manu fall off tackles to notice Neilson.
Stats are awesome when used correctly - this is rarely the case. Here's an example from the stats given above..
"Hurrell - 103m, 13 hit ups, 11 tackles, 0 missed tackles.
Manu - 112m, 10 hit ups, 3 tackles, 4 missed tackles
Laumape - 59m, 7 hit ups, 0 tackles, 2 missed tackles.
Neilson - 63m, 5 hit ups, 8 tackles, 0 missed tackles."
Let's look at who the most effective runner of the ball might be. It would be reasonable to suggest that the most effective runner has the most metres per hit up, right?
Hurrell - 7.9
Manu - 11.2
Laumape - 8.4
Nielsen - 12.6
Now I don't mind Nielsen at all - but nobody is realistically going to agree that he is the most effective runner out of those four, even in that single game. Tada! The stats have told a lie.
