Will be interesting. Quite a tricky team to pick, I think

1- Tomkins
2- Fisiiahi
3- Allwood
4- Kata
5- Wright
6- Townsend
7- Lolohea
8- Lillyman
9- Friend
10- Matulino
11- Thompson
12- Hoffman
13- Mannering

Res- Vete, Faitala-Marriner, Lisone, Hurrell

Have to start Hurrell, not really much choice. I hope Manu is back, otherwise looks like what I would pick. Going to be interesting. Would have disrupted a well-functioning team, but we are already a shambles. I just want us to snake into a finals series for once, is it so much to ask for?

No finals footy for us this year, but for once I'm nopt gonna bag them much for not making it, our injury tool has been horriofic for most of the season, we had a decent run for a while when it settled then we got smashed by more.

We still have an outside chance of playing finals footy, and this is our best bet of doing it.

I thought about that, but Lolohea in the halves is more future minded

Yeah. Absolutely. And I'm torn about whether that is the better road to go down. But I firmly believe that getting to the finals, even if we get knocked out in the first week, will do more for experience for our young players than anything else.

And hey, who knows, if we actually get there, there's no reason why we may not win at least one game. The benefit that would have for guys like Vete, Kata and Lolo would be enormous.

Tomkins
Maumalo
Hurrell
Niukore (Kata gets the week to think about what he's done RE tackling)
Vatuvei
Townsend
Lolohea (doesn't matter to me who wears 6 and who wears 7)
Lisone
Friend
Matulino
Faitala-Mariner
Thompson
Mannering

Havili/Roache/Lino (pick one - I'd be tempted to pick Roache despite his youth as he covers the whole spine & centres)
Vete
Lillyman
Lousi/Ikahihifo/Palavi (I've liked Palavi in NSW cup recently, but any of the 3 I would be fine with)

Would think about picking Fish at fullback (after his NSW cup displays) and pushing Tomkins to halves, but I want to see Lolohea in the halves more - and Fish might not even be here next year (though we should probably try to retain him more now that Laumape is gone). Wright on the wing if Manu isn't fit.

EDIT: Just thought - might go Fish fullback, Tomkins halves and Lolohea centres instead of blooding a newbie in the centres at this time of year (Niukore). Hmmm... maybe.

I think Tomkins with his hands on the ball more at 6/7 will be better for us without Johnson there. Lolohea did well playing fullback earlier this year, so could certainly hold his own for these last 6 regular season games. Lolohea has the skill set to play in the halves but does he have the leadership skills?

Will Lolohea be kicking goals too? Might be too much on his near-rookie shoulders. Playing halves and having the burden of the team needing every two points extra it can get.

Lolo might (should?) be our 6 or 7 next year, so isn't it a no-brainer that he fills in for SJ the rest of the year? That experience is exactly what he needs if we expect him to step up next year.

Keep Tomkins at the back.

Maumalo should get another shot. He provides more power getting us started early in the set, which we need if Manu is still out.

Our back line is totally shambles. Must be one of the youngest and most inexperienced collection of players on any squad. We are so desperate to get some guys back from injury right now.
