Actually if you ask Napa he'd probably say that he hit the bloke with everything he had and he still got back up and kept playing, and he respects him for it. You're talking as if Napa made Maumalo into some sort of bitch, he didn't, he hit him with a good shot and knocked him over, but Ken didn't drop the ball or look overly rattled by it.

No, but he was a cluster f**k in so many aspects of his play...

He's got potential, not as a winger to me (but I am no expert) - if he can defend in the middle he could be a useful impact forward from the bench?

Actually that's probably what Napa would say to front the camera, who knows what he REALLY thinks and says to his team mates in the changing room post game and who really cares now. The bottom line is Maumalo got SMASHED!! That we do know.

Next time you catch the highlights of that game, have a look for him in all of Roosters big plays. He's in there lol.

Not really sure what the big deal about getting smashed is... everyone does (actually, not everyone there are some like Johnson, Soward and others that pathologically avoid contact) - more about how the player responds, and he responded well - but aside from carting the ball up he fails in most aspects of wing play...

should have cost us the game IMO - should have been a penalty try, and I think he was one (Vete another) that let SKD run - only his brain fart saved us there

I just liked the tackle, like most kiwis, we love the big hits!

The thing is the Maumalo fans on this forum keep saying "We NEED Maumalo, he should be in there, try scoring machine in the NSW cup". After watching that, it wasn't what his fan club made out to be. All of a sudden Maumalo the try scoring machine fan club turned into "what about his hit ups", his hit ups were EXPECTED of someone whose trying to secure a spot but his game is far from what I was told.

He's just bordering on OK as far as NRL standards for a winger is. He's too slow which is a put down for a winger but it's what we saw.

I agree Maumalo isnt exactly an NRL winger but he does have very good potential and his physical traits are exceptional abeit he does lack speed.

His hit-ups against the Rooster were absolutely what we needed and if you think about it we are going to need extra fire power to get a roll on against an outstanding sharks pack this weekend.

No other winger in our side apart from Vatuvei can provide that. If Maumalo can have a fairly mistake free game then his go forward is going to be crucial to contributing how we get up the field.

Every game Maumalo plays he gets better. He needs 20 - 30 games before we know just what his upside is and in what position.

I'm on the critical side of Maumalo, but he got smashed by Napa (great hit) and got back up in good time and I respect him more for that.

I personally don't want to see Ken in the Warrior jersey ever again but it's not up to me. If he does make the team then I hope he goes great, I wish all the Warriors blinders week in week out. If they're good, I'm mention exactly those good things. If your shlt, I'm going to tell it how it is. I've got nothing against Ken so just cos I'm shooting him down on this thread doesn't mean I hate him. If anything, it's some of your guys fault. Yous said he's try scoring machine! It's like you guys stood me up.

Did you see the reserves a couple of weeks ago when Robson got creamed?
IIRC it was the second big hit he took in two weeks.
I think he will be glad to retire after this season.

No I dont watch reserve grade unless I kind of have to. Sounds like they like to pick on the old fellas. He shouldnt be getting smashed anyway given his position..unless his hooker is Hingano who benefits from his injury and therefore lobs the passes lol.

Yeah I respect him for that too, and even more the big barging runs he did in the second half following an absymal first half.

But I think wingers need to cover all basic winger attributes else are a disaster waiting to happen.

They need to have speed, good under the high ball, finish tries (by power and/or agility), and be able to defend and, importantly, anticipate in defence well.

Manu is a bit of an exception - his weaknesses have been offset by his incredible finishing power play and his massive cart ups.

Anyone see Jorge Tafua last night - horrible, utterly horrible. Couldn't get off the ground to contest a bomb.

Neilsen the other night - awful in every way, can't believe he has an NRL contract.

Maumolo lacks the attributes to be a good winger I'm afraid. Too much downside.

With our propping depth I'd like the coach to rest Bull this Saturday. He's 32, vital to our chances this season and has one heck of a job to do tomorrow night.

He'll be asked to back that up against some of the same Blues forwards on Saturday.

Great call and Im guessing this would be something Cappy would be considering seriously. I cant speak for Liliyman but personally, ever since I hit my 30s, its taken longer to recover from League games.
