I remember differently. Maloney, along with Mateo, were the few playmakers who kept committed every week during those horrible times.

Maloney certainly didn't play particularly well, he kept getting hammered by forwards when left 1-1 by his mates and was a walking penalty (as usual). So his numbers were terrible. But he *was* trying from memory, Johnson in comparison wasn't even attempting tackles.

The way I remember it Maloney was left to defend against a lot of opposition forwards with little support.
Often, when he kicked through on attack, he was the only one chasing the kick.
Can't question his ticker; he stood tall in defence and his attack suffered.
Some on here criticised him for missing tackles but often he was trying to tackle props. And at least he tried.
Still, he was the better half on our team.
Cheeky bugger too.

I do remember him crying during his last interview during his last game - so he had some kind of affection for the club.

Warriors turned him from a nobody into a star, and probably tripled his value, so yeah he had to have some affection. :D

Maloney's performances definitely tapered off hard in the last 7 games, but had been one of the few to put in consistently and at a very high level up to that point - so not sure if it was lack of effort or just losing his form in an unforgiving situation (that being the rest of the team playing badly).

I hope you 'jaded' Aucklanders can still appreciate the excitement of going to a Warriors game?

What a day tomorrow, I can't wait.

Although, I do have some concerns we're going to face an angry Birdy, Gall, Jimmy, Fifo and Wadey. All with a point to prove for Origin III.

I'm flat out bewildered by that, how is the team better without Tui at fullback???

Still, how does that make us better? He could start at 1 and do that. And he has been pretty much mud in the halves anyway
