Team looks solid. Curran straight in for Niukore and Barnnet on to the bench

Souths also look strong on paper although Mitchel is a big out.

Can't dish out likes so I'll just give this a posted thumbs-up👍
Definitely a deliberate strategy imo

definitely deliberate. Would like to see Afoa do more with a short stint. Take more hit ups etc

yeh, but his hitups arent the quality the team are looking for from their top 2 front rowers hence AFB does more work. Why have more mediocre hitups? The team ends up being in a worse position on the field because of it. Afoa is slowly being phased out because hes not up to the job.

1500 tix left last night apparently by Webster post match interview. Looks to be single seat tix and away team support area in southern stand by ticket master.
Been a long time since we had a team that sells out stadiums almost before the Monday.

What amazes me is when we lose a game, eighteen thousand show up the following week at Mt Smart.

The club is on fire.

Afoa's defensive work is pretty top notch.

I seem to remember Afoa's hit ups being quite good and his play the ball being quite quick. Then again, it feels like it's been a while since I've seen one. He's no AFB, but if he's playing 20-25 mins, you'd expect some impact on both sides of the ball.

was going to mention that. In the current setup his defensive qualities are probably as important because if he’s called upon to play bigger minutes that’s what will get tested.

The Warriors pack is stacked with 80 minute forwards. Afoa is and Ale are bonus players to keep the 80 minute guys going at peak performance in defence.

As such they are not really impact players in the fashion we are used to, that is supposed to be delivered by Jazz and Walker off an ideal bench configuration.

Walker and Jazz are also 80 minute players, even though we use them in spells for speeding the game up and running the opposition ragged.

By selecting all of his 80 minute players, Webster has the luxury of not having to use one bench spot, which is where I think we will see an experiment with a back carried on the bench when TMM, Metcalf, and SJ are all available, can certainly imagine Metcalf coming off a bench to run dummy half runs and special plays through the middle backing up ball playing fowards.

Apparently Jazz and TMM are still some weeks away. Maybe being cautious in bringing them back given team travelling well.

Seem to think that this game against Souffs is a bit of a crunch game. Given the run home, still a good chance to make the 8, but win this and there is a chance of top 4. Yet to be convinced that warriors are genuine contenders.

What I loved about last week, was that there are ball players in the centre which vary and make it hard for defence to read. Tohu and Walker play that role in centre at various times and make attack less predictable. Walker adds so much to this team and is my buy of the century so far.

Yeah he is defensively very strong and that is often overlooked. There was a game recently where I noticed he was smashing dudes on D from the get go (I think it was in one of the 3 losses in a row matches and he may have started).

Whether he smashes dudes or not, he hardly ever misses a tackle
