He may miss a couple, but he doesn't avoid the workload. His metres gained would have to be up there with Daniel Palavi's wouldn't they?
Absolutely. First cab off the rank imo
It's not just the 2 games. His numbers are below what the other guys (props) have been churning out. He looks as if he's just starting to hit fitness the last couple of weeks. That game on Saturday was definitely his best of the year. If he can back it up with a few more he'll be there.
Definitely a yes on Bunty on the right. But then where does our new 80 minute middle, or 2 rotating middles come from?
A bit late for a response, but same selection debate for next week I guess..
Yeah Satae puts in the work, I like that for sure... he has a couple of (minor) other flaws, but nothing that puts me off him other than those misses - they're not at an acceptable level. If he can get that sorted while keeping the rest together he shoots straight into genuine NRL contention.
As for his metres... more than Palavi, but that's because Palavi has played 2 games on the edge not the middle... they're near identical on a per-minute basis while playing in the middle. Not just in metres either - their numbers are very similar across the board, Palavi usually just nosing him out (though beating him easily for effective tackle rate and decoy/support runs).
Tof's raw metre totals aren't really concerning for me because of the role I want him in - the low minute role we've been using for our 3rd bench forward (Sao, quite often). The idea is for him to be a guy to come in a shake up the game with a few tackle breaks and big runs while not letting the team down without the ball.
As for where do the middles come from... well... Mannering hopefully will be back next week. Both Sipleys (now that Pat is fit). Palavi would probably outplay several other guys in the squad if given the chance. Now that Jazz is back he's an option, though I'm unconvinced by him as a lock at NRL level... workrate excellent, but consistent quality carries? Not so much. A smaller Mannering.
