Maumalo is going to be that player this year that the coach persists with way too long when we're all begging for him dropped. The new Jono Wright.

I'd take Manu even slightly unfit over this guy.

Simon Mannering is expected to take the field for the Warriors against the Storm on Friday but doubts remain over the availability of Issac Luke and Charlie Gubb.

Coach Stephen Kearney has stuck with the same starting lineup that scraped home against Newcastle 26-22 on Sunday - the first time the club had won a round one game since 2009.

Both Mannering and Luke left the field early in the second half with neck and rib injuries respectively, while prop Gubb suffered a head knock late in the match.

Issac Luke clutches at his ribs after picking up an injury against Newcastle.

But Kearney is hopeful all three will be fit to take the field.

Who cares about Gubb, but losing Luke will be a crucial blow.

I hope we don't try that Bodene move again.

I'm not a NRL coach, but I havent seen many change their minds to quickly about their masterful plans with players and they normally persist for at least 3 games to make sure it wasn't just a bad game.

So I think we will see Brodene at hooker (at some stage) and Maumalo till injuried players return.

I was impressed by Gubb in the weekend, even though he didn't make over 100 meters. Was never than he usually is, but yeah not too dissapponted if he's out.
Is Sipley available? Thought we lacked punch in our forwards so would love him to be there.
Maumalo's fast becoming one of my most hated Warriors ever. I really hope the Manu on the bench is a red herring and he's in the team come game day.
Katas an interesting one. If he learnt how to pass he'd be the best centre in the comp....

Luke out, Roache out, Jazz out. That would mean it'll be our 3 hookers gone.

Clark will have to play 9 and lolohea to 9 when he needs a break.

Theres literally nobody else.

It's early days but these new 6 PM Friday night games look like a dud here on the East Coast.

Perfect for NZ though, although I'm disappointed. When I first looked at the draw and saw so many Warriors games on a Friday night I naturally assumed they'd be the live game on Nine, like previous seasons.

Nine ignore the 6 PM games, which spells doom for it as a concept.

How did last week's rate?
I'll admit to missing most of that game, as didn't realise start time.

No rating because Nine don't broadcast the 6 PM. However, the main issue was the abysmal crowd at Belmore. It's too early for a weekday, many people physically couldn't get there on time, others couldn't be bothered rushing from work or adding extra travel onto a Friday.

The whole concept might grow on everyone. Let's see how it's traveling mid-season. As I said, it's great for NZ time-wise, but in saying that, you can't beat a Saturday or Sunday game.

Agreed, we're the only team it really works for crowd wise, though it might be reasonably ok for Newcastle or Canberra. Insufficient time to get to the game for big city teams though. For TV again it's a pretty average time slot for anyone except NZ audiences, as people are still getting home.

Yeah it's not ideal if you want to travel to the game.

Works out pretty well for me though and a few others I know. Knock off work in the city at 5, find a bar, observe 2 hours of "happy hour" while watching the footy and make it back home to the wife at a reasonable hour to save copping an earful.

I hope it stays haha

I'd take Jono over Maumalo any day

I mean, if I HAD to choose..possibly...but the point is both of those guys are not FG standard. Wright should have been NSW Cup/depth cover but McFudd picked him with a full squad, either at centre or wing. Hopefully that's the case this week and Manu is back in. And what's happened to Nicoll-Klokstad, injured?
