That’s the first full game I’ve seen this year

Webster needs a major rethink about the backline, he is very reluctant to change though but some may be forced anyway. Has always been reluctant to chuck TT into fullback, but now he has it looks to be a winner there

A defensive edge of Boyd/CNK/DWZ isn’t it, and it is never going to be it. Regardless of NSW Cup form which I haven’t seen, Ali needs to be backed, and told that from the coach and get some confidence in the kid, he should be the future of the club in that position, CNK and Pompey aren’t going to get faster or more explosive. I worry the last 12 months may mentally set him back a fair way. He doesn’t solve anything defensively, but at least it is a point of attack that CNK doesn’t quite offer

Don’t like to say it, but RTS is looking slow and heavy to me, and his hands aren’t anywhere near as reliable as they used to be. I’m not sure what I do with him though

AKP is an absolute must in the side imo, again regardless of NSW Cup. The backline is extremely slow, and needs that speed injection into it. He isn’t great defensively, but that area of the game isn’t looking flash out wide anyway. It’s a risk, but I’d be taking that risk. Even when DWZ was in the clear today he looked like he was in quicksand

Metcalf, the injury may be a blessing, he wasn’t there at all and looks to have absolutely no confidence in his body. This will sound brutal, but we are dealing with a mid-late 20s guy here, who hasn’t racked up 50 games yet, and has a career built on 10 good weeks last year. He needs to come back through Cup and gain some confidence before being thrown to the wolves again

This is our spine - don't break it until (unless) Metcalf starts tearing up NSW.

Ali returns, CNK back to reserves, I'm a Charnze fan but it's time for the future.
I'd be keen to see AKP out there somehow, Roger perhaps in the centres.

Also I think I finally have a full appreciation of what CHT brings - an able deputy who knows when to let things run, steps in as required and a pair of shoulders that can halt a truck. Kinda like what we thought Leuluai was. I don't think it's a coincidence the wheels fell off with him gone.

So the first 3 rounds we were complaining about Ali's defense...

We let in 18, 6, 12

Last 2 weeks we've let in 32 & 36

Yeah, I know I'm cherry-picking a bit but still...
More a reflection of the Roosters and Raiders trying to beat us through the middle, but it certainly hasn't got better.

I'd go back to what worked in the first 3 rounds, with the caveat that sides are still (or should) going to try carve us up on the right edge. That won't change quickly. Boyd is still an iffy defender, Ali lacks experience/confidence/defensive nous and DWZ is a disaster waiting to happen.

I presume Metcalf is injured, as is Charnze. Egan might be OK?

Best thing we have going for us here is the lag that seems to happen when teams play the Panthers.

Injured, isn't he?

Jeepers...you really want to watch the world burn, don't you? A guy who looked broken defending on an edge 3 weeks ago and a 20 year old rookie.

Thanks Webster.

My reasons:

- No Pompey.
- RTS out of form.
- CNK too slow and no footy IQ in the centres.
- Berry still broken.

Leiataua always seems to be given the short straw when it comes to losing form when we all know some others deserve some of the same treatment. Too many favorite sons.

Leiataua can score from anything and his defense will improve with more reps in first grade, and CPP jumps Fatialofa for me to debut. The kid knows how to play.
Attack and defense is top notch stuff.

Though I guess you'd keep it to your most predictable lineup though, smh.
