I thought Konnie had been training the house down this offseason??

Why not reward the guy with a start??

Thompson hasn't had any pre-season games, had off season surgery, and may not even be right for this game if he's still dealing with his recovery. So no surprise that Henry starts IMO and it wouldn't even shock me if Thompson came into the starting side on gameday if he's good to go.

Wright is there as injury cover, but I'm not sure anyone else has been ruled out of contention yet. The final make up of the bench is probably TBD.

SJ at 6 is good, but only if we get rid of the "split halves" crap and allow our halves to play both sides of the field.

Our fringe defense is the issue, but I think we all knew that coming into the game. Curious to see how they go.

Happy to see Gavet on the bench. From all reports he's completely turned his life around so if he's done all the little things right I'm happy for him to get a shot.

Pretty decent line up and one you should expect roll the tigers despite our curse of rd1.

Henry is an intelligent player none the less so i don't think he will weaken the position.

Johnson at 6 is exactly right.

Gavet - YES PLEASE

Roache - very exciting to see him named, I see a lot of Craig Wing in this kid.

Exciting and intriguing. Im pretty positive with the line up.

Johnson at 6 is just pedantry.. he'd be playing the same role regardless of number.

Gavet's been nothing but crap in the NRL - and is in the '17' while Vete sits on the extended part of the bench. Benry isn't the right selection. No Hurrell, but Kata (as f***ing always) still there. Ayshford starting without injuries/nsw cup form as reasons as to why.

What is going on? Am I awake? Round 1 hasn't even got underway yet and I'm already fed up...

I turned off the radio this afternoon when all the 'oh no why is Johnson at 6' crap started. The same shite will be pedalled if/when we lose a couple of games and SJ isn't scoring 3 tries a game and setting up another 4. I think we can all agree here his number is absolutely irrelevant, we can reserve judgement until we see how he plays in combo with Robson.

I'm also intrigued about Gavet but will reserve judgement again. Vete was making massive steps last year so that's an interesting one that is seemingly based on trial form alone, one v a piss weak Titans side. Benry, I can live with - Thompson isn't fully fit.

The one that really gets me rarked up is the fact that Kata started on the wing v the Dragons and is now a centre, with Lolohea vice versa. WHY. WHY WHY WHY WHY? Have we not learned the essence of having a combination and sticking with it? Why confuse the shit out of these guys by swapping them around? Did the plan change in a week? If not, why the f**k did they play out of position against an NRL-strength outfit when it could've been a key learning experience and chance to form the right combination? Do we STILL not have our systems in place?

Arg.

And that is a decent Tigers side (albeit their bench is weak, although you could argue ours isn't that strong). They'll 100% be targetting us through Simona and Naigama, and using Tedesco to further isolate and strike fear into our defenders.

oh, thats a 'Warriorism'...

been doing it since '95.

Correct...one day we'll find a coach who gets it right...I just don't get it. Was certain that given Lolohea and Kata were named centre and wing respectively in the trial, they'd start there. Hey maybe we throw Lolo in the forwards next, just to give him a real identity crisis.

No he will not, as 7 he had to organise and direct, he has Robbo for that, so he can just run, take on the line, push up in support and link with 1 to 5.

Particularly push up in support, when 7 he had to worry about the next play and he will be sensational because of that.

Oh like when he plays 7 with the Kiwis yeah?

Come on mate, we all knew Robson was here specifically to organise/direct (he doesn't do much else, apart from defend). The number on their backs means absolutely nothing. It's just as likely that any actual impact the number switch could have is a negative one on Johnson (mental) as a positive (same) - not that it's very likely at all. He was going to play the same role regardless of 6 or 7.

Yes he will. McFadden has said in the past that SJ will play whatever role is best for him on the park, regardless of what number he has on his back. He's had to organise and direct in the past because he's had weak/inexperienced halves partners. Townsend wasn't an experienced organiser and nor was Lolo. Robson is. That's your difference. And yes, he'll be better for it.
