13 rounds in, and the justifiable, dead serious discussion of sacking another coach has arisen.

Sigh.

The CEO will go first, his job is untenable. He's said too many times in the past that results fall on his shoulders, and that's three (?) years of under-performance. As much as I like Jim as a person and he's been a strong business man, he's not a football club CEO.

Then it's up to whoever comes in next. Given McFudd is still on the payroll, good luck getting Kearney out of a job early.

Stephen Kearney is our reality until 2019, folks.
Jim is looking shakey.
But who is he replaced with?
He can't make the calls about who goes on the field.
Do we know he didn't try for Toovey?

But yes Kearney needs a results based contract to make some calls he needed to make a few weeks back.
Obviously doesn't want to be the bad guy, has slipped into the one of the boys culture very easily.

Kearney has cost you Toa Sipley, has signed a 2 year deal with us

Wouldn't expect to see him picked anytime soon now

That's me just about done. It's going to take one hell of a forward signing to replace his potential. I hope Mixmaster is on the money and we get someone good.

Dunno on the replacing...I can't be arsed googling but I've read articles where Jim has said he'll walk the plank if we can't make the eight because that's the standard for the club and therefore him. And we're not going to do that this year.

He chose to appoint Kearney. He could've had Cleary. He chose to keep on McFudd. Whether those decisions were influenced by owners or not, he signed off on them. So it's time for a new CEO. I have no doubt our bottom line is fine, because he's very good at running profitable businesses. But we need someone who will move heaven and earth to a) get the right coach b) set an environment c) sort out the pathways to the NRL side ie junior side based in Australia, academies etc.

That's the worst part isn't it, after letting Cleary go inexplicably we actually had a chance to get him back and blew that too.

I'd give Doyle one more year. He came in when, mid-2015? 2015 isn't on him and neither is last year really as he was stuck with McFudd. This year is the first one that is reallly the results of his management, and tbh most of the stuff he's done (player signings, jersey policy, home ground ploicy) have been good. But they haven't flowed through to on-field results and eventually he'll have to be accountable for that. But if Kearney was the best coach he could get then it's not really on him.

Ivan is probably better and more proven than Kearney, but I can remember plenty of calls about Cleary not being the man to win us a GF bla bla bla... then he got let go and we made one, obviously didn't win. Why did Panthers let him go?

Hopefully we can nab a top coach one day. But not holding my breath.

There is hope in how Raiders and Eagles have performed after a few lean years with new coaches. Just not sure if they held players accountable on the way through?

The thing is with Ivan is he hasn't achieved much since leaving us. I mean look at his Panthers team and his Tigers team. He had a good 4 or 5 years with us where he won 50% of his games, including some finals footy. However he really hasn't achieved much after us. Tigers success still pending.

He took a pretty average Panthers squad to 2nd after the 26 rounds which was a pretty good effort, and set the groundwork in place for what they have got now by making tough calls very early on (Lewis and Jennings) and developing the talent at the club

Whatver Cleary did or didn't do, it's a hell of a lot more impressive than anything Kearney has ever done.

I've made these posts a hundred times over but all you need to know with Ivan is he got us to finals 5 of 7 years, earned enough in the 6th to get us there but for Mick Watson, and the 7th was the Sonny Fai year. He carried Wayne Scurrah. He won games with Grant Rovelli and Michael Witt as halves. He built the basis for us standing up to the Storm. He completely changed the culture.

He's already done it at the Tigers, weeded out the bullshit. Told Tedesco and Woods to stop mucking them around by giving a signing deadline, publicly called out Moses for his whingy crap then binned him, and has set about collecting the basis of a good team (Reynolds, Muts, Packer, apparently Connor Watson, McQueen etc). He did it at the Panthers, getting rid of the overpaid junk and getting them to 10 minutes off a GF 24 months after being wooden spooners. Not on him that Gould decided to get jumpy after a horror year of injuries, and appoint nigh-on the worst coach in the comp because his manager is Gus' best mate.

He'll turn the Tigers around and make us look like complete f**kin idiots for not bringing him back. Imagine turning down a proven coach, not only proven but proven at your club until you let him go in a GF year.

Will be f**king hard to 'trust the process' when that happens.

Yeah Kearney seems a bit crazy so far. Him and his big eyes staring lol.

Im just happy Cleary who isnt up there with Bellamy and Bennett, is back working as a coach after not being wanted for awhile.
