They always are 'swapped' so to speak because Mad Dog seems to always wear the #4 jersey but plays on the right.

And not a bad point about Wes there Mr JW...while I don't mind him there these days, carrying him and Hilder (with the terrible Fa'aoso) on the bench could put us on struggle street if the Raiders pack gets the ascendancy.

Here is what we're up against (with their forwards highlighted with the above in mind):

Raiders

1. Josh Dugan
2. Joel Monaghan
3. Jarrod Croker
4. Adam Mogg
5. Daniel Vidot
6. Terry Campese (C)
7. Josh McCrone
8. Dane Tilse
9. Travis Waddell
10. David Shillington
11. Joe Picker
12. Bronson Harrison
13. Josh Miller

14. Sam Mataora
15. Trevor Thurling
16. Tom Learoyd-Lahrs
17. Scott Logan
18. Danny Galea

Just on that point re Raiders pack, are we to assume the Sharks pack was flat due to Origin duty for Gall and Snowden? We actually looked good against them. The boys need to step up again this week.

their pack is going to be an issue, and i think it is safe to say that Snowy and Gall backing up from origin (Gall in particular) would have had an effect on the sharks performance.

our boys need to shift it up another gear this weekend... especially given our record in Canberra. i seriously don't know if i can tolerate watching yet another Knights team go down to Canberra mentally unprepared. i'm just so f**king sick of seeing it. fire up you merkins.

Yep I think the Sharks pack was a little flat - plus our best overall performance by our forwards in the attack department for a while didn't hurt either :)

Having said that...they're only approaching what is acceptable for an NRL pack last week, going to have to go up 2 gears in 2 weeks if they are going to match it with the Raiders!

We should send the guys up to Barrington tops to train in the snow.

Canberra is like playing in a freezer.

Looking for a big game from Uate this weekend. He was a bit quiet last weekend but should be firing again now that he is back on the right side and with Doogs.

In a very basic match up here's how I see it.

They have us easily covered in the forwards. There is no question or doubt about it. They have close to if not the best back (bar hooker) in the comp. They also have arguably the best/form prop in the comp in Shillington.

We have them covered in the backs, with the match ups shaping up as:

Vidot vs McManus
Croker vs MacDougall
Mogg vs Sau
Monaghan vs Uate.

If Uate/MacDougall don't score at least 2 tries between them this weekend I'll be shocked. Monaghan's "rush in wildly - arms flailing" tactic is embarrassing for a professional footballer and we *should* be able to exploit it with out two best 3/4's if we play smart.

Croker has improved 10fold in defence from what he was last year but in attack Mad Dog should still be able to cause him some headaches. Then you have our safest winger against Vidot, who under the high ball makes Cross's handling look great.

The biggest concern will be the left side defence. Their go to side is the right, with Harrison, Mogg (usually Joel Thompson) and Vidot. And with Sau's struggles in defence this should be a big focus in training for us this week. Up the middle Campese will test us with lots of short passes to lead runners, with his favourite, Joe Picker, back in the side.

The "spines" are fairly even, and hugely unpredictable due to the number of highly inconsistent players in both sides. Kids and Dugan will both be hugely influential to their respective sides winning. In recent games Campese has looked like he's lost once he gets to the opposition 20. McCrone looked a lot better last week than he had in previous games and is a solid but not great player. Our halves... well you know the drill, I don't need to discuss them and their number of issues any more than has already been discussed on here. The hooker battle is so far in our favour even if we had Hilder starting.

So in the battle of the halves, flip a coin and you're just as likely to predict which pair will come out firing.

Game plan this week should be just drop everyone back to our 20 metre line and wait for the error. Oh and watch the left side.

The boys have a great shot in this game if they come down here with the right attitude and commitment, whether they will or not, given this seasons form, past results in Canberra etc is anyone's guess. Let's hope we make it the first win in the Capital since we put 70 on them.

Just had on nbn news that Mullen is in huge doubt due to a hip injury. Anyone else fearing that Dureau will get a run?

If Mullen is out, we should go with this I think;

1. Wes
6. Rogers
7. Gidley

you're right, we should... and i hope we do.

there's a good chance that we won't, though. we can probably kiss the game goodbye if we don't unless scotty has a fair dinkum blinder and the Raiders are too stupid to target him. both seem unlikely to me.

On NBN they showed training and a heap of reserves were there. Saw Edwards, Ciraldo, Fawcett, Dureau all running with the firstgraders.
Fawcett was probably running Kidley's lines - not sure what the others were doing.

all the improvements in defence over the last couple of games will go out the window if dureau dons the fg jersey again, wes gids n rogers for sure.

better keep uate on the right with maddog for the remainder of the season. hopefully there not gonna play wes in the backrow again like last week, pick mika instead please.

reckon this will be our toughest game in the next 3 weeks at least, especially with shillington and tll havin good origins, if we can win this one and stop dropin the dam ball every set it'l make up for some of the disasters earlier in the year.

Im not minding Wes on the bench. He is now fairly safe with the ball, and seems to have the fitness to be able to handle the pace when the other team is dominating us with ball possession.

Wes has provided good value for us this year tbh. bit of egg on my - and mostly everyone elses - faces on that one.

you fair dinkum wouldn't feed the bloke from what he provided last year... but he's come pretty decent this year.

Before anyone else gets their knickers in a knot - NBN did not say, infer or hint that Mullen was in huge doubt.

He was in fact quoted as saying he is a 60/40 chance. Hell he was planning to run at training today (let alone late in the week - what you usually hear from players struggling with an injury) and is planning to try and have a run on it again tomorrow.

The Herald also was quoted today as saying that Mullen (and De Gois) had minor injuries but Stone anticipates that both will play, even at this early stage.
