But surely if DA saw that Jarryd was overplaying his hand he would've asked the halves to take over.

But did DA have the balls to ask Robbo and Mortz take over?

Probably not and so let Hayne take the ball.

I've been saying this before the season started: We can't rely on Hayne all the time. We need someone to take the pressure off him or at least provide an alternative source of attack.

All the more reason why Mateo or Keating should be at 6.

I believe that was our biggest mistake in the GF in the first half, the game plan seemed to be give it to Hayne on the 5th and kick it to Burt.....too much pressure on a non playmaker.......

Hayne needs to actually either play 5/8th so it is his job to do it or play like a fullback and chime in when he sees something, having him get the ball on the 5th all the time makes it predictable and he has made a career out of being unpredictable!

I think Hayne has had his best start to the year, he is involved plenty and is really putting in, so that is promising for us as he usually is very slow to start......

Spot on.

Our problem at the moment is we have no playmakers in the 6,7 & 9 positions and we are forcing our 1 to come up with all the major attacking plays.

Even worse, our 6, 7 & 9 have very poor kicking games, especially long tactical kicking. It's simply non-existant. How many repeat sets have we had this year?

I don't know exactly what the soluton is but I fear neither Mortimer or Keating have the ability or experience to play the organsing halfback role our side desperately needs. I see both Mortimer & Keating as ball running 5/8's. Robson is only a stop gap measure; a fill-in when injuries strike. He's certainly not the answer.

I like Avengers suggeston of moving Mateo to 6 (although on current form he should be lining up for Wenty) as it might help take some pressure off Hayne and give the halves some starch. A lot of people forget how good Feleti was for us when he played 5/8 a couple of years back.

Feleti did play well for us. But I remember after a stint at lock then a move back at 5/8th, he was erratic. Sometimes good, sometimes bad.

Feleti plays what's in front of him and sometimes forgets the coaches instructions/game plan.

However, he does have the skill there.

I reckon, he will be there towards the middle of the year.

My prediction will be 6. Mortz 7. Robbo for the Canberra game. If we win and play well, DA will stick with this.

If we lose and they play poorly, I reckon DA will make the change with 6. KK 7. Mortz.

Then if that doesn't work by mid-season, he will go with 6. Mateo 7. the performer out of Mortz/KK/Robbo with preference to Mortz because of his new contract

Either way our priority, recruitment wise, needs to be a halfback, preferebly one that can organise and has some semblance of a kicking game...

The perfect option for us if KK was to leave would be someone like Robo who has a good kicking game and more involved in attack. It has been mentioned before but guys like Hodgkinson or Scott Dureau

Bingo!

we need some speak there and either would be ok, but it think k Keating deserves a shot there - he would still be our starting 6 or 7 now if he hadn't got his jaw smashed against Manly last year

FFS. how is Mateo in the side. He was ridicously hopeless last week, he should have been wearing a sharks jersey. If he doesnt perform against the raiders let the dogs have ffs.

I don't understand why people want to put Robson to 9. I don't see him as having Kris k's acceleration and creativity which makes him effective there.

In fact I reckon matt k would make a much better 7 than robson would a 9. If robbo doesn't play 7 he goes right out in my book

Spot on. Matt Keating is 10x the hooker Robson is or ever will be. Robson should not be in the team at all.

Laugh but he is one up on Robson in that he has a kicking game and thats an improvement tbh

Ask the Knights fans what they think of his kicking game..... no coincedence that the Knights are also chasing Thurston to play halfback.
