Team Vs. Storm

Part of it could be how they respond to the tough questions from McFadden.

Neilson: "Pretty atrocious mate, lots to work on. will train harder and will bounce back"
Hurrell: "Aw shucks pretty lolz eh. PIES! brb..."

Lol Hurrell ain't that bad.... maybe if it was one of the Lousis that's how he'd sound ;). Hurrell always sounds pretty fresh but he also cones across as enthusiastic.

But I think you're right re Nielsen, coming from the Storm system I'd say he's a consummate pro at training and does all the right things there making him hard to leave out- shame he doesn't reproduce that on game day.

Reading the Herald this morning about the Storm Clash and Shawn Johnson made this comment that I found really annoying in reference to the Anzac Day clash

"Everyone gets up for it"

Yes its Anzac Day and it is a special day, but what he is implying is that every other game they play, they dont "get up for it"

Why is that? They are in a professional competition ranked one of the hardest if not the hardest in the world. They play once a week unlike the NBA and MLB where they play 3-4 games a week. I would be extremely disappointed if the players arent primed and ready to put their body on the line EVERY TIME THEY GO ON THE FIELD.

Johnson's comment sums up to me the attitude problem festering in this team. I think its time he had a reality check and went back down to reserve grade until he realises what a big deal 2 points is in the NRL...

"I've watched their last few games pretty closely and you can see there's some signs that they're starting to play well.
"They were unlucky against the Bulldogs and put up a real good performance against St George last week so they're starting to get into their best form."

I agree with Bellamy...I don't think he just blowing wind up our bottoms. Warriors are on the up under Cappy. Should be a good game tonight. Warriors for the win.

Reading way too much into an innocent comment that would come from 99% of players in this cliche driven league. He's not implying anything just a standard response to a standard question.

Agreed I don't think there's anything to that to find issue with. All of the players make similar comments about the ANZAC games. If you watched the shows last night all the guys who had played in ANZAC games were going on about how everyone gets up for them etc it's the "correct" thing to say.

Maybe you are right and if it was someone like Jacob Lilyman who busts a gut every game I would have not even considered it as an issue.

But based on Shaun Johnsons inconsistent performances in the past where he just goes missing in action, I think his "innocent" comment as you say, is indicative of his whole mental psyche and why he will never be a topline NRL player. He decides what games are important and plays differently. He will probably have a fantastic game today and everyone will be saying "Where has this been all season"?

If I am wrong I am quite happy to eat humble pie..

Henry will start at centre, Nielsen dropping out and Hurrell playing from the bench.

Sounds good to me, as long as Neilsen gets dropped and Hurrell gets a run. Have to wonder if this will be a typical "we have no change so somehow win" game...Storm aren't tracking so well lately, but neither are we if course. Will need it get off to a good start.

Good news. Hope Henry's got his 'fast' boots on. I guess Henry will end up on the forward rotation and Hurrell slipping into the backs.

Track looks as though it'll be hard and fast tonight as well. Little or no rain around by all reports.

For mine, this game illustrates why Nielsen must stay out of the team. Henry showed twice as much attacking flair as Nielsen when he was in centre (and better defence too), and of course we know what Hurrell can do. I'd pick Henry, Laumape, and Hurrel all over Nielsen. I think we would have lost this game is Nielsen played.

This.

Despite whatever money we threw at him he's pretty much done I'm afraid.
Just too much of a liability on attack.
