I think Kenny Edwards was outstanding last night. He has really impressed me since he has come back from his injury. I'd almost put him ahead Ma'u. Perhaps he is more suited to the left edge than the right also.

You need a good defender on the right, at least in our team. Edwards is strong and aggressive but he misses plenty. Great attacker though. The left is definitely his best side for us. He might be better suited to the middle in defence but then he would have less room in attack (and probably couldn't play 80 minutes).

So out of Tepai, Ma'u and Edwards who would you have in the middle?

Definitely not Manu Ma'u - he's pure edge forward. Probably Edwards, because he can get more involved in attack and then have a rest. Moeroa can play 80 minutes and will be a great defender in no time. He'd be a massive asset in the middle, but he's probably best on the right edge at the moment.

I reckon Kenny Edwards can play Joe Paulo's role, for sure.

Good question, what about the Seff??? We can't leave him out can we???? he is vital to our structure......

Paulo's actually a good defender. He mightn't be the best wrestler but you can't have a pack full of wrestlers either or they will give up too many linebreaks.

Joe Paulo is one of the few blokes not to miss a tackle yesterday, despite playing 63 minutes in the middle. He also missed none last week despite the rest of the team missing 36 tackles! I think you overlook it because he doesn't do as much in attack as you would like. But he offers heaps more than Peni Terepo, who I'm sure you'd love because he runs fast.

Perhaps we could use those 3, as you have suggested, with Gower off the bench.

Do you not feel that we have too many players on the field at once that want to be ball players, Paulo, Sandow, Norman, Gower to an extent and not enough players that actually want to do the hard yards first.

We're essentially using our edge forwards too much as off the play the ball battering rams, where other teams are using the three players in the middle to do that job and using their edge forwards running at halves, like they should be. We're asking our edge forwards to do it all!

I've been saying all season Edwards could play Sefs role with his eyes closed. Tepai is best suited on an edge atm but can easily play in the middle in the future. Gower is a handy all rounder and cover both spots.

That's for the coach to decide, but there's no real need for three runners in the middle. You want your best running prop taking the majority of the runs anyway since he's only going to be on the field for 40 minutes.

Our edge forwards definitely make a lot of runs (especially on the side we are targeting that week) but that's just how we structure our attack. I think it's a smart gameplan. They are still running at the halves.

For me at fupl strength next year i would have Lussick and Mannah starting props, Tepi and Mau on the edges and Edwards in the middle with Mossip, Jnr Paulo, Gower and Sef/Pauli off the bench.
I think edwards could easily play the sef role and also add the advantage of earlier second phase play, my bigvest criticism of sef if he cant consistently ball play at the line, he often telegraphs he is passing while kenny is better at going to the line and getting a ball away to his runner.
I can also see why kelepi was released, he will need 2-3 injured to even get a run with Allgood and Terepo still contacted as well.

We've needed Edwards on the edges due to injury. Don't forget he wore jersey 13 in the first three rounds (while Kelly was halfback).

This for mine reinforces my observation that Sandow and Norman cannot do all the half tasks and Paulo will keep getting picked in the team whilst they remain as our 6 and 7.

He's better than all of them at one thing or another but unlike those four he's not a genuine middle forward. He's too short and lacks energy. That's why the Cowboys signed him as an edge forward.

Parramatta Eels whiz-kid Tepai Moeroa wants a shot at Rio Games

Parramatta young gun Tepai Moeroa has revealed his ambition to compete in track and field at the Rio Olympics while juggling his football commitments.

Moeroa is one of the most exciting prospects in the NRL after making nine first-grade appearances at the back end of the season.

The Eels quickly re-signed him to a new three-year contract to thwart poachers, including Super rugby franchises Waratahs and the Chiefs.

However, the 18-year-old is equally skilled throwing a shot put and discus. He set several age records during his time as a boarder at Newington College.

In his first interview, Moeroa outlined his plans to participate in the 2016 Games, most probably in his preferred discipline of shot put.

"We'll see what happens, when everything settles down, next year we'll start looking at the Olympics," he said. "I've been concentrating on league but still do [track and field] training. If you put your mind to it, you can go far."

Moeroa was born in the Cook Islands, spent his early years in New Zealand and came to Australia at the age of five. However, he will play for the Kangaroos if given the opportunity at representative level.

"I could go New Zealand but I always wanted to play Origin," he said.

The Australian Schoolboys rugby star has vowed to use a chunk of his Eels contract money to buy a house for his parents to repay them for the sacrifices they have made.

"[Mum] had to sacrifice a lot. It wasn't easy [financially], we had to struggle and stuff to get to where we are today," he said.

"That's what the house is for, it's the beginning."

Would Tepai represent Australia, New Zealand or the Cook Islands at the Games?

I wish him good luck regardless of who he represents, and I hope the club doesn't stand in his way.

Considering he has probably no chance of training in NZ (cook Islands would have no real facilities) due to his eels contract, thus he will have to use resources in Australia ( from athletics australia ?) so he will probably be obligated to represent Australia.

Rio being in the southern hemisphere and Olympics being the summer games means its in the League off season so it may not interfere too much
