Terrel May

If im perfectly honest I havent studied May individually, hes obviously part of a ridiculous 4-man prop rotation at the rorters.. so that would no doubt add to his statistics... I think NAS is 'too big' but there is some middle ground in there... but I think its as much attitude & motor too. I mean if we had a 2nd JDB we would be sweet.. someone in that 105-115kg range.

But if we are talking to him we must see him as a fit.. the reality is its not like playing an RPG game where you get to build your character, weight, height, speed.. if its not May.. who else can we go for? We might try for Thommo also, but I just doubt we get him either, and thats 2026.. probably we will just shoot for both.

The best way to eliminate data error is to add in some more data points..

Taylan is listed at 1.83m, Turuva is 1.82m, so using the photos below.. that puts Terrel at maybe 188-193.. somewhere in that range.. i.e. hes definitely not a monster.. but he is clearly taller than his brother (and turuva).

The Roosters site has May at 183cm
Google has him listed at 193cm. But there is a lot of variation online. Last week I saw Lodge listed at 117kg.

But just to be realistic, 183cm is only slightly over 6'. And 178 cm is just 5' 10". So the claim is that May is just 5cm over 5' 10"? That is simply impossible. Photos with team mates show he is much taller than that.

I don't know why it is, but the club official heights and weights are often not reliable. Who knew it was so hard to use a tape measure?

May is a similar build to Sele and Molo. I thought we were after a big bopper.

He's a class above both those guys. Tackles at almost 98%, plays longer minutes, makes more tackles more metres and had 40 off-loads last year - that's more than our entire prop/lock rotation made and it's even more stark for tackle breaks - May-64, Sele-5, Frankie-12, JDB-29, see what I'm saying . We need guys like him, he's perfect and given there's bugger all else on the market, essential. I suggested signing him over a year ago and at 25 yrs old he's just getting better.

They are incredible stats.

@25.5yrs of age, he would be coming into his prime now also..

But I dont wanna focus too much on him as it lends to lead to dissapointment based on our last 12mths of chasing middles.... I rly just want to make sure the halfback is nailed down.. from there if we get a good (let alone elite) middle, I'll officially lose my mind.

Surely we would be in a better position to offer more than the Dogs or Tigers salary cap wise.
You would surely think so , however their bean counters seemed to have graduated from the same financial college as did those of the rorters .

The Tigers still have the ex -dragon Sullivan on their books at $900k and they are willing to allow him to walk with the money . May will cost them big dollars should they be successful in their pursuit of him , so where in the hell are they getting their money from ? 🤔

Not to mention Bateman who is on the nose big time.
My son reckons that Tigers still have a mill to spend - hard to believe!

I'd be surprised if buy both Atko and Ilias, but Id love it if we do.. gives us double the chance of finding our longterm 7, gets injury cover, and keeps the pressure on all of them (including Kyle).

And yes its hard to believe the Tigers could make serious financial offers to May while carrying Sullivan and Batemans contracts.. if its true they must be rolling in cash..

A lot of these contracts are timing.. same with gutho, val, cook.. we rely on being the only club in a position to make a serious offer.. its nerve-wrecking, but its getting the job done.. may prove to be the same with Atko/Ilias, and not sure on May.. I think the Dogs will be very hard to beat.. but atleast there is no storm, penrith, rorters to compete against.

Surely if either - Atkinson or Ilias are released then Flanagan would opt for Atkinson ? With respect to IIias I just don’t see him having the same attacking skills , nor the never stop running attitude as Atkinson .

Still we never know just what Flanagan is thinking nor for that matter what he has up his sleeve , only when the signing is announced will we be the wiser .
