Sure but also most in the room would have granted him the life membership.
I understand that also, but my comments were in relation to no statement from the club on the fact that the media got it wrong, most of our members would have no idea who AH was or what he did.

But then a number of them would have found out about him from the publication.

With all due respect to Denis, I would only see that as being a very devisve step to take and tbh, detrimental to the wellbeing and future of the club.

Suity
It has the potential to be very devisive.

But since he is member who more than likely might think (from his perspective) that he has a better contribution to make than some directors of our Board(s), I can see it being a real possibility - one that the membership (and the elected future Boards) might have to come to terms with from 2011 onwards.

Let's hope we just win the comp in 2010, before a similar circus to the one that effected the first half of this season sets in at our club again.

John Fenwick #LM 89 - Stated that while Denis would not say it, the reason he was contacted by the NSWRL on this issue was because he was made a life member of the NSWRL at that meeting.
Ron Hilditch responded that Paul Osborne’s Mother is dying of cancer and he was busy with work commitments but apologise on behalf of the club for not having a representative at the NSWRL AGM.

What I didnt get, or maybe I just missed it, is why Denis didnt attend if he was getting Life Membership?

Andrew Hill was announced in the telegraph, Either Bec and Buzz or a JM Article, I can not remember which.

Right, so you meant media.

Again though, why would it have done any good to request a clarification on a gossip column? And how many Parra fans really would have given two sh*ts?
I don't really give a sh*t and I am an avid Parra fan and Footy club member. Like I've said though, dont get me wrong, I have no objection to him getting LifeM but I just don't see myself from a fans point of view that it is very high on my importance ratings.

I assume he did attend..but he is no longer a delegate from the Eels...

cry us a freakin river denis
seem to remember earlier this year at the unveiling of the ray price statue - the absence of the parramatta ceo and a certain parramatta stadium trust member.
and he is up there crying because nobody from parramatta came to honour him at his party and what a disgrace that was.

He certainly did not make that clear, he left alot of us thinking he did not attend by the way he worded his gripes

I think it is a legitimate 'gripe'. Very unprofessional of the Club to be an 'absentee', irrespective of what people think of Fitzy.
But whether Denis attended, or did not attend - to get his Life Membership is neither here nor there.
It is a well deserved honour. Life memberships are not given away. They have to be earned, and congratulations to Fitzy on gaining the recognition of his peers in this manner.

BTW, it is a new board, and they should be made aware of their responsibilities are. The place to raise those concerns are at an AGM, don't you agree?

It is quite obvious that you have never been on a committee with responsibilities if you think Fitzy raised the matter 'because nobody from parramatta came to honour him at his party'.
It wasn't a 'party' it was the AGM of the NSWRL, of which the PDRLFC is, I would assume, still a member of....

You freakin made the statement, I gave my take on what I heard him say

Blah blah blah. I don't care about Life Memberships.

And in answer to your last question, there were concerns raised and I believe adequately answered as indicated in MITS' summary notes

From a media management perspective, the club should have pursued that, especially when Andrew was announced as part of Team GWS

Clubs smack down the "Gossip" Columns all the team, Bec and Buzz have had to write more retractions that you have had hot Dinners. The Board and staff are the owners of the clubs image, and as was seen today, there was a fair amount of members who were displeased with the actions of the club that they had heard about via the Media. Feeling it has besmirched the clubs image, the club they are members of. If the club wishes to uphold its image in the media, then a clarification on correctness is important if only to avoid scene like today. We have asked over many years for open and honest communication. It appears that we have a way to go on that one.

Sorry, I still don't see that 90% off Eels fans give a sh*t.
I can understand the gripes that alot had about the way it was handled, but I'm in that % that don't care along with the majority I reckon.

I believe Denis did attend, nut indeed that was not clarified, but that no official representative of the club was in attendance at the NSWRL.

People will hear what they want to hear, if they hear it as Denis whining then that may be their opinion based on the experience or prejudice. But to finalize the point as I wrote in my notes, Chairman of the Club Ron Hilditch apologized to members for not having a representation at the NSWRL AGM.

I know that one of the first things that happens at the initial board meeting of a new Board is that there is someone appointed to be the clubs representative to the NSWRL It is normally the chair and the CEO.

Thats fine that 90% may not have cared, and indeed you are one of them, but that still leaves 10% that did, and you saw the problems it caused today.

He was whining today MITS, and that is not based on prejudice or experience but based on my eyes being open and listening to his yelling and up and down voice pitch.
However he has a right to raise concerns as does anyone in there of course, I'll not deny him that. And like I said, some of the concerns raised by him and others are valid and today was certainly the right place to air them and I also think there was some decent answers to some of the concerns.

Those problems really were not problems IMO. They were about 5 guys that stood up and talked and some that nodded approvals here and there but had nothing to say themselves

Thanks Mark for that sensible reply. I too care about service being recognised with Life Memberships. It is part of a Club's history......
