LOL. So it's time for a new one.

I just want to be able to get all the digital channels, plug my hard drive in and watch movies/tv shows from that and have a general upgrade.

I'm looking at this or something similar.

are you going to be watching 3d at all?
as far as i know LG is the only brand that uses passive 3d glasses (same as your local cinema) other brands use active 3d battery powered glasses that are much more expensive and heavier than the passive ones

Samsung or Sony are probably leaders in that price range. If you can talk down the tagged price (which is a fairly simple task these days) consider one of the following:

Sony KDL40W600B

Otherwise Samsung has some good value in that segment. I'm not sure when their 2014 refresh is hitting Australia (if it already has) but you can probably find some some retailers that will give you a good deal on a ~42" Series 5 or even Series 6 2013 panel.

Just watching the announcement of the QLD team on fox.

Completely over the top and slightly camp. Who decided on the terrible music?

They've been doing that for a few years now.

I can just imagine the comments that would come from north of the border if it were NSW that introduced their team with all the pomp.

I'm looking to buy a new TV. Not sure if i want an LED or Plasma. Going for a Samsung or LG i think. Anyone got any recommendations??

get a LCD (LED) not a plasma - for starters they only seem to have plasmas 50" and up now and like ME said the glare is bad

don't get a panasonic - I did and I don't particularly love it - I got 42" ... its really good for some things but some not good (sometimes it just seems blurry - I dunno maybe all LCDs over a certain size are bit like that with SD tv???)

if I were to buy again I'd get a sony or maybe samsung - my inlaws got a 32" sony and it has good picture (but maybe cos its alot smaller than my 42")

i think they all have passive now ... well i know panasonic do and pretty sure samsung does too ... I don't think i'd ever bother watching 3D anyway

Kogans are selling a 55" LCD for $800. Might be worth running the model through Whirlpool or Product Review to see feedback.

Otherwise I bought a 50" Panasonic 3D Smart wifi LCD not long ago. F**cking amazes me at times how crystal clear it is.

Modern tellys are very cool. My kids will walk into the lounge room with their ipad / ipod or phone and hit a button on their device and the youtube video they are watching hijacks my TV show and starts playing.

Don't ask me how they do that.
