all those reality shows are much the same

The Biggest Loser is another one. Some of those weekly weigh ins are 3 months apart so they can actually lose alot of weight, but they all get told who will lose weight, who wont and who should have a meltdown in front of the camera to dramatise it and get people to watch

there is no such thing as reality when it comes to TV

I believe that the results are massaged at times. Better cooks with better dishes have gone home so that the higher rating potential is maximised.

But to suggest that it's like wrestling is a bit much.

I watch it but never live. I FF through the "how bad do you want this" shit where the hosts try and make them cry.

TBH the UK Professional Masterchef show with Michele Roux Jnr and his NZ head chef Monica is the one to watch. Usually on in the new year.

Its very true, some of the other things that this guy said was unbelievable, he went on there to cook and refused to sign the confidentiality agreement hence he blew the whistle when they told him that they'll decide who wins and it has nothing to do with anyone's cooking ability

like I said there is no such thing as a reality TV show

fake dishes

Hmm there might be some truth in the Jnr Masterchef show, but I don't buy that everything in the Snr show is fait accompli.

I hardly think that re-plating is evidence of defrauding the public. Any reasonable person would accept that the ice cream would melt by the time they taste 10th dish.

In any event if it really was as bad a rort as you say, it would have been exposed by Ch7 & 9 on their current affair shows. They would love love love to destroy it forever.

That first link was 2010, where they could re-plate sorbets, quinnels which get sloppy under the lights and due to the wait for it to be judged. I read that article at the time and thought it was a fraud too, very misleading. These days though they get to plate up sorbets, quinelles etc...at the table when they are about to eat it, done it a number of times this series, solves the problem of replating and getting a puplic bashing. Also this series there have been many who haven't been able to plate up what they wanted due to the time restraints, which was rare in series past.

the 2nd link is junior masterchef, LOL. It only lasted 2 years cause of the fakeness id assume

I agree, not necessarily the best cook wins it. Like last year HOW THE F**k DID that blonde troll win it????, was mind boggling, she bumbled and crumbled her way through it. Cried mercifully in all challenges. I LOL when she won it. Now last year was the biggest fraud

This year though, there have been some amazing cooks

Both Brent and Laura deserve it, as would 5 or 6 others

My friend Nick from Messina is a guest judge on Masterchef, it's not rigged.
Messina opened a store at Parramatta a few months ago. You guys should give it a go.

I took a bunch of teens to Messina Bondi on Saturday night. I had a scoop of "Elvis the Fat Years" and a scoop of Pistachio.

Good stuff. Was there many people there?
I remember when he opened his first store at Darlinghurst about 12 years ago it was pretty quiet. Now they sometimes have lines out the doors.

It's a fair way up the street away from the main drag, so it's not the ideal location for summer.

Was pretty busy for Bondi 9pm @ 7 degrees outside. Did they have to pay Masterchef to be part of it ?

I haven't been to the Bondi one yet, or the one in China. I've heard they have one coming to Miranda and another at Barrangaroo.

I don't know if they paid or not. He was on the current series a couple of times and the last series as well. I don't know if I will ask him if he paid to appear, he might be offended.

To tell you the truth I haven't been to the Parramatta store or the Surry Hills one. I've only been to Darlinghurst and the Star casino.

Come on Twizz!!!

Did you even read the articles you linked for us?

fake dishes? (been explained)

scripted? the kids get told in advance what they are cooking so they can practice - no problem at all. Nobody wants to see a show where a 10 year old breaks down and cries.... But (a) that doesn't make it scripted (they still have to reproduce the dish on the show, nobody is told who will win etc etc)
(b) has no bearing on adult masterchef (where they have most likely cooked the dishes at some stage in the past anyway, because surely only a total mincehead would try and invent something brand new under pressure).

The kids simply haven't had as much experience as the grown ups, and shouldn't be penalized for getting a practice dish or 2 in...

I couldn't find the original whistle blower article, thats the one you need to read.

Wouldn't surprise me if they paid him to remove it.

Agree. They get coached and are able to practice in The Voice too. They still have to deliver on the night.

We'll agree to disagree. It's a bit like bigfoot for mine. If what you say is true, there would be merkins coming out all the time.

Merkins would be selling their story to Current Affair in a flash.

A fiend works for a production house (not Shine). They do shows like that. When they were doing one series she got the whole DVD set for my daughter, but they were very very strong on confidentiality and taped two endings just so the real result never got out. She only gave me the disks the day after the final.

You will no doubt say it's because it's rigged, but trust me - she'd tell me if it was.

I much prefer the original UK Masterchef on Fox. More cooking and less running around in kitchens and shouting out like dumb f**ks. But I guess it ain't trying to sell ads.
