Did you watch them against PNG? They dominated from playing the exact same way Australia did but benefited from the inexperience from PNG. The second half was very poor. They strayed away from their game plan and the niggle from the lesser lights really annoyed them. They did it comfortably but that game and the loss of Leuluai doesn't not make them the form team. Limit Luke from dummy half and they have f**k all.

Yep, NZ lose their way if they get all riled up as Samoa and PNG showed.

The side that's shown the best attacking football has been England but they can only sustain it for about 20 minutes a game.

It's wide open at the moment. Whoever can cut the distractions out first will win.

But I don't think losing Leuluai is too big of a blow. Lewis out for us is worse.

Hayne played the last 20min or so in the centres.

Matt King seems to think Sheens wanted to see how Hayne would go there, possibly replace Tate in the bigger games ahead

DCE is a better halfback than Cronk

Agree with this, Cronk is a manufactured player while DCE is at a different level altogether. The next great halfback.

Boyd wouldn't have scored Hayne's two tries, he had to do more than just fall over the line.

The only reason Cronk is even in the conversation is because he plays with Smith, and to a lesser extent Slater.

it's not hard to see why Warriors paid a gabillion for Tomkins. His footwork is like no other. He will find it harderbin the NRL with his tendancy to crab, but in the end he will be a far better player for it. Inglis, Tomkins, Hayne, gap, Slater these days.

Means they need to play Luke for 80 minutes. Elijah Taylor isn't a hooker and Luke can't play the full eighty.

I think he can quite easily. If he can't then he only needs a 5 minute break.

Cherry-Evans is a better half, but the Slater-Thurston-Cronk-Smith combination is too good and too experienced to be broken up for the finals.

Cronk has always just been a cog in a well oiled machine. He's a connecting player, basically. He does have a great kicking game. We've never seen him lift a team just with his presence, he's always had Smith or Slater or Thurston or Inglis there.

Luke can play the full eighty, and regularly does for Souths, but it makes them extremely vulnerable up the middle late in each half.

Isaac Luke runs the ball more than any hooker in the game, so he conserves energy by bludging in defence and off the ball. Most of the time you won't even see him at dummy half when the play-the-ball is on one of the edges.

I initially thought Cherry-Evans was overrated but he is the real deal.

I always thought Cronk was overrated, and still do. He's pretty fast and strong for a halfback, and he kicks and tackles well. But he's not even close to the genuine playmakers in the game.

Provides solid leadership though, which you don't even notice until your squad doesn't have any.

There are people who still think he won't do anything in the NRL.

Tomkins is a gun, it'll be great watching him play in our comp every week.

I don't think he will be great in the NRL but that has more to do with Matt Elliott and the players around him at the Warriors than Tomkins himself. They have lost some talent to get him and they are so hot and cold. If Maloney was still there I think he would have a much better chance to have someone to play off.

I'm really keen to see how he goes, actually. With his lack of size he could end up very disappointing, though with the Warriors' good spread of dangerous runners right across the field he will most likely be a raging success.

I don't expect much from Lee Mossop, but I do expect him to be solid and dependable, and hopefully he brings us a lot off the field.

Tomkins crabs across field and uses his speed to run around people who try to break the line by going to tackle him. Keep a straight defensive line and the bloke has nothing. He will be figured out pretty quickly unless Elliott tries to use him differently and get something more from him because I haven't seen much for me to think he will be great

The whole point of big merkins is to disrupt the defensive line. If they do that then the defence doesn't have a choice about keeping a straight line - they're struggling to get back onside and number up before the ball is played.
