Choosing to live in remote communities is what's stopping access to opportunities. This is the same for all Australians, regardless of heritage. Do you understand the concept of opportunity cost?

Sure, do you understand an indigenous person's connection to their land?

I understand my connection to my land. Both where I grew up and where my ancestors lived. Unfortunately I have to live elsewhere due to economic forces.

Adults don't f**king cry over spilt milk. They get on with it. They don't make f**king excuses for other merkins either.

You should probably stick to just commenting on the football. Either that, or do a bit of research about aboriginal people.

You need to stop believing all the 'research' you're fed. Indigenous Australians are human beings, same as every other Australian. They're not some exotic magical creature for us to fetishise.

So that's a no.

Pou is actually pretty spot on here.

It's largely a case of victim creation, which is our society is rife with.

If Aborigines want to live an indigenous lifestyle then they don't need welfare. It didn't exist prior to colonisation, did it?

If they want the same as us in the modern world (health facilities, education, extended life expectancy etc) then they need to have input like we do.

We can't produce the same opportunities in remote locations as we do in centralised urban areas, so if they choose to live there then they are choosing to deny themselves the opportunity that I have.

And, yes, I understand indigenous Australians and their culture. I have Dharuk in me, work with Aborigines and have close friends who are indigenous, so don't feed me your pathetic "progressive" victim creation.

What a load of rot. We should ignore the fact that through persecution and paternalism we ( Europeans ) created the current situation?

It is of our doing.

We are not Europeans, we are Australians. Plenty of Australians aren't even descended from Europeans. yy Cheng will back me up.

How can anyone know how someone else feels other than to believe what they're told? Why would an aboriginals' connection to the land be any stronger than anyone else's? And why would you even believe whatever you were told?

Because they're the people I spend most of my time with.
When I go out to the communities I see the difference.

Who's talking about welfare?
We're talking about taking away essential services.

If you think Aboriginal people get a fair go then good luck to you.
I know they don't and I see it everyday.

Yeah ok.

European settlers and their descendants have not controlled this country and the resulting policy around the treatment of the indigenous Australians since white settlement.

Multicultural Australia proves that a myth.

I'll see your token example of non-European descent ( no offence YY ) and raise you a few PM's.

Nah f**k it, not a few, lets make it all of them , and the governors that preceded them.

lol you really believe elected politicians are the most powerful people in Australia? There's probably more aboriginal pollies than there are with Chinese heritage. However I'd say Chinese Australians have better average life outcomes than the rest of us. And they've done it without any special government assistance.
