think this is more fitting....

The point of all this is - we all know he can score a try. Just like 96% of the players in the NRL. But pace is far from one of his leading attributes....

There is also the theory of whether speed or quickness is the most important thing in league, as well as instinct

It is good to be fast, but some people cannot catch the passes at top speed or do not have the instinct telling them when to try to go around someone on the outside.

Then there is quickness, it might take someone 5 seconds to hit top speed, that does not show up on the video, might might explain why he was behind Morris in the first place.

I have watch Clovell for 3 years now, he can catch bombs, but he is not a try scorer, he is not a ET, who had both quickness and instinct. So he might have a good top speed, but it does not make him a good winger

Just my 2 cents worth, speed does not matter, some of the faster players I knew

a. could not catch the ball
b. could not hit a hole
c. could not hold the ball if the hole closes

I think speed is over rated

I think Morris drop the ball so often that it offset his speed and his ability to get around a defender

Nothing I have seen of Clovell suggest he is/ going to be a try scoring winger, if he does not kick goals, he would not make the side. He is like a D Halligan type

You are talking about last years NRL leading point scorer who came 5th on the try scorers list right?

I noticed this one too. He definitely showed more pace to get there than what I thought he had.

Although this thread does bring to mind a similar argument a few years ago about Simmo displaying his Super Speed to chase down, I think, Matt Bowen.

Interestingly this one has gone through to the keeper.

People back then were in orgasmic rapture over Simmons and this may of been the birth of the mythical Simmo Super Speed.

The smart people argued correctly, but in vain, at the time that coming off the diagonal and with a headstart will nearly always see you make ground or catch the ball carrier.

carch's exceptional work on the stills, (I'm so proud), brought that argument back for me as well and proves what was said all along about Simmons. He is NOT fast.
