Don't know if I said this earlier in the thread but Gary Oldman is the best living actor. I always believe he's the person that he's playing, no other actor does that for me, the rest I can see the strings being pulled.

If I could pick any actor to turn 20 again and rejig some of his dumb decisions in his career, Rourke would come very close to the top of my list.
As Is, I love some of his movies and performances. There is a movie virtually nobody has heard of....yet contains one hell of a performance from him...Bullet. The speech he gives to two wannabe crims towards the end of the movie is an absolute gem.

you are right he has made some dumb decision and also he keep making them. Even after the wrestler return, he badmouths directors.

Also look him in 9.5 weeks, body heat and rumble fish, and especially the end of angel heart

He was definitely on the career downturn with "Bullet"....but, f**k I love that film. Most people don't know the movie exists.....but it is so very much underrated. His performance, Adrian Brody and the great Ted Levine are all very memorable. To me, a forgotten gem.

I love "Year of the Dragon". I bought the blu ray special edition last year....hell of a performance and I'd argue Rourke being in his absolute prime of his career around that time.

It's a pity we're restricted to last 50 years because being a romantic cry baby I like the old movies like the 1951 African Queen with Humphrey Bogart and Katharine Hepburn or Vivien Leigh and Clark Gable in Gone With The Wind 1939.
Any movie in black and white from the 40's does it for me, James Stewart, John Wayne, Cary Grant, William Holden, Gregory Peck.
In those days acting was priority as special effects were non-existent and romance not porn ruled the big screen. Nutz is boring eh

Didn’t Ted Levine play his crazy brother?? I vaguely remember watching that movie many moons ago and loved it. I’ll have to give it a rewatch.

Bullet is good i remember watch it 15 yrs ago maybe.
One od thing in Bullet is at least on my instagram reels here in Estonia I have seen bullet clips generate frequently in my feed.
I think because of tupac connection the movie will not b truly forgotten, maybe wrong reasons though.

Sunset Boulevard- Gloria Swanson and William Holden, absolute classic performance from Swanson .

So many i could list, have plenty of Bogart's movies on DVD before he became a major star, they are mostly with Bette Davis.

*Dwayne Johnson: Agree with you 100%. Im disliking his movie choices the longer his career goes. His best movie was "Welcome to the Jungle".....his second film. Perfect blend of the Rock being the Rock and his chemistry with Seann William Scott.

*Jason Statham: I agree again....but I like a lot of his movies though. I really enjoyed "The Beekeeper".

*Ryan Reynolds: I agree again...but he is the only actor out of the three guys with genuinely good acting chops....he just chooses to be the same old Ryan Reynolds in just about every movie he is in because it pays the bills for him. But, if you have seen the movie "Buried", you'll notice that he is a damn good actor....when he wants to be.
