Just putting it out there - how about Gallen?

Sure, he's got rep honour galore but - the guy has the biggest motor in the game, he plays his guts out week in week out, but he loses most of the games he plays. Club level for the Sharks at a time when they are considered the easy-beats of the competition. State level for NSW at a time when the most dominant QLD team ever put together is on a six-peat.

For all the work he gets through, for the way he plays every minute of every game, he's probably only got a career win percentage of about 35%.

matthew head, injuries
sonny bill, wanka
jackson nicolau, storm actually preferred him as scott hills succesor is playing for nerang roosters now i think
josh lewis, tore up flegg for the dragons, was one of the roosters best in 06 and i think hes been stranded in q and nsw cup
michael lett, former australian schoolboy, its not too late but time is running out
richie williams, poor bastard suffers from ams (anthony mundine syndrome)
brent sherwin, probably the best short kicking in the last 10 years, only matched by joey

Come on boys who showed the most promise and actually delivered very little.
Example: Matt sears :when he ran down Mullins from behind i thought he would be a legend forever...Then what happened?? Booze, drugs something happened.

be nice to each other

The Batla

He had a bit of a drug problem.

Played for West Tigers 2000-02

Then went to Wakefield.

Was last playing for the Cudgen Hornets in the Northern Rivers Regional Rugby League (NRRRL) with Craig Field.

Matty Bowen deserves a mention, outstanding player but is yet to win a premiership, only played a handful of rep games and plays for a club who've only had a few successful seasons.

Playing for QLD and Australia is not an achievement?
Queensland will take 'em from anywhere.

Mick Luibinskas. Horribly ripped off by selectors, despite his brilliance and being impossible to put down. Rumour had it that the only time he hit the turf at Lidcombe was when he did push ups at training. He was that good.

1. Re: The best player who achieved the least!
2. Who showed the most promise and actually delivered very little.

These are different questions from the OP. Ones the thread title and the others the question in the thread.

Matty Bowen deserves a mention, outstanding player but is yet to win a premiership, only played a handful of rep games and plays for a club who've only had a few successful seasons.

To the first question you might have the winner. Longevity would have to kick in for Bowen as well.

A lot of good players have had other good players in front of them for rep honours

.......perhaps Matt Bowen being small in stature had something to do with it as well?
