The bye - our approach

Has anyone seen anything on how we are approaching the bye? I know a few clubs have given their squad 5 days off for a break - I wonder if we’ll do the same?

Not quite sure where I stand on giving the players an extended break - on the 1 hand, feels like a good chance to recharge the batteries and freshen up for a big end of season charge. However, I can’t get get away from thinking that we’ve not really earned that luxury, and there’s too much work needed on the training paddock to get things right. If we give them time off, there’ll be a part of me that thinks Fitzy is being too soft/nice.

I’d be inclined to give them time off.
There’s 10 week unbroken leading into the finals so I think it would be wise to recharge.

But everyone should be under no illusions as to what’s expected when they get back.

It’s getting to the business end, and it’s time to switch on.

Hynes was interviewed and said he’s going up to see Aaron Booth so I imagine they’re getting some sort of break.

In planning the season they would be building through the final 10 games. Imagine there is a break this week to freshen up then back into training next to make the push for top 4.

Back in the day it would up and down the bloody sandhills.
As it should be . Opportunity to win the competition comes once a year. If they do it they get a big celebration , big break and good money . Go for it now while opportunity is there. Of course thats only if they really want it.

Try and contain their forwards in the first 20, respect the ball and win the middle. The backline will do the rest.

I think the byes have been a huge annoyance. 3 Byes in 17 weeks is uncharted waters and frankly f**ked.

The next 10 weeks we can buckle down and lock into the team we want to be. Is it good enough? I'm not sure but excuses and all that are out the window. It is go time from next week.

Yeah , Peaking to early and exposing secret stuff too early. Always been at back of my mind . Just the weekness through the middle is real worry .
Maybe, if it's an actual weakness. The next rounds are the best for us IMO. Don't care who we play. Stupid disruptive byes are gone and out of the way. The side gets 10 straight weeks now to build to peak fitness, peak cohesion and rolling momentum.

4th placed in 2022 was 34 points, 2021 was 34 points, 2020 was a lousy 28 points, 2019 was 32 points, 2018 was back to 34 points. I reckon winning only 6 games gets the side into the top 4. Maybe 7 with the extra round.
