I wouldn't mind a HEAVILY incentive based contract up to $300k with say a 150k base

We have already got rid of Frawley

If we loose best and howell as well then we should have around 600k to be able to offer mogg and mona's

I'd be happy to have Joel back. I always thought he was pushed into his deal with the Roosters and you could see it in the way he has played since signing with them.
But, yeah 300k is a joke. More like 150-180k maybe with incentives.
Still it's good to see the club has flat out said no to 300k. Gives hope that previous costly mistakes like Tyran and Frawley are a thing of the past.

Yeah, I was wondering when Joel's name would come up. Surely he can't be after $300K he has been in the NRL wilderness for the last 2 years. Wouldn't mind his return at the right price. Whilst where bringing up old names, would of been interesting to see how Ale would of fared this season. Expected to see him at the Knights but haven't heard anything.

Apparently he has given up on league because it is too hard.

I was never a big fan of Monas. He scored all his tries on the wing from kicks. No shame in that, alot of teams use that play (look at Manly with Orfords kicking game).

But Joel was not fast, not outstanding, not a real eye opener at all.....but he is a darn sight better than the likes of Howell.

I centre combo of Mogg and Graham with Turtell and Monas on the wings gives us a very big backline (except Zilly and Phil) without any glaring weaknesses.

At the end of the day, is Joel better than Milne/Irwin/Kelly/Cross?

the joel monaghan of 2003/04 certaintly but his health now is questionable and has regressed as a player imo since joining the Bondi Bathhouse Boys. I'm hoping Mogg returns sooner rather than later. As for monas, he can stay where he is or go to the UK.

Whether that $300k price tag is accurate is one thing I guess, but he's really coming across as a bit of tosser asking for that sort of cash for someone who has achieved jack sh!t in his career.

Decent player, but certainly not someone who's going to win you games off his own bat.

He isn't close to a 300k player. If he reckons he can get that then we may as well give up on Tate because he'd be worth 900k based on the valuation Joel appears to have given himself.

To be fair to Monas, he had an entire season on the sidelines last year and is has missed over half of this season so far - I'd happily wait and see if he can prove himself with the Roosters over the next 4-6 weeks. But a straight contract of $300K is a little precious for someone who's pretty much an unknown quantity.

To be fair to the guy, it's his manage spouting the $300k figure, not Monoghan.

He's worth about half that, I'd think.

i agree, 150k at the current state of play
maybe 200k if he really hits some form in the back half of the season

Full credit to Parra Pete for breaking this almost two full weeks before the local rag!

Thanks Pete - keep that gossip coming!

I reckon Monaghan will end up back here. No one else will show much interest imo and we will be able to get tht price down.

The one thing I hope is that Michael Monaghan isn't coming back and that is why Joel wants back in.

We could do worse than having Michael Monaghan back at the club.

As for Joel, he left for 275k and is nowhere near the player he was when he left.

Anything more than 200k is a total waste of money.

in what position though legend?
I dont rate him as hooker, which is the only position we need suring up in, and even then Hinchy and Withers will suffice

The last thing we need is another half to try and sqeeze in... Todd Carney, Michael Dobson and William Zillman already in and around, Marc Herbert a year or so off from joining them
