Saw Iron Man 3. Enjoyed it but one thing that riled me...

I didn't read the comics but I did look up who and what The Mandarin was and I was excited to see the battle with the rings and everything, but then The Mandarin was literally nothing in this movie. Kind of shit imo.

Just back from IM3 and, well, it's got good action, good laughs, good acting, but feels a little off.

I really wish we had more of Kingsley's Mandarin. He was coming across as a really good antagonist, then bam!

The Mandarin was the only thing that disappointed me about the film, was really looking forward to him as well.

They bastardized the Mandarin, it's like bastardizing Red Skull in Cap America or Joker in Batman. What should've happened is..

* extremis virus controls people, heals people but no fire
* they're controlled by mandarin's rings
* turns out mandarin himself is controlled by Aldrich for twist
* mandarin kills Aldrich, uses bunch of controlled soldiers to take out iron man at the end
* same ending with heaps of iron man suits
* mandarin escapes, pepper saves iron man using a suit to keep that twist
* mandarin is seen at the end of the movie talking to Mekalith (Thor baddy in up coming Thor 2)

Those elements would've made the film much much better.

The Mandarin was Aldrich Killian, he just used a decoy as a public face. He wasn't nothing.

I found the movie to be quite funny with great action. I'd place it just after Avengers and Iron Man in the MCU. I was enjoying the original Mandarin, he sounded great and I was looking forward to seeing him fight. I didn't mind the reveal and liked Kingsley's silly drug addict actor but I wished they had have incorporated some of the Mandarin's traditional powers instead of just having Extremis.

That was the disappointing thing about it, that they didn't show off Mandarin's traditional powers, he was in the film by name alone really.

No worse than Sam Jackson as Nick Fury really

You realize that the Ultimates Marvel series of comic books Nick Fury was based on Sam L Jackson? He is white in the original 616 universe and is black in the ultimate universe. Seeing the marvel cinematic universe takes more from Ultimates than 616, it's actually a great casting choice for Sam L to play Nick Fury who was based on Sam L anyways.

I know that but I dont agree that the movies are more like the Ultimate universe. There are far more 616 likenesses imo, especially involving Iron Man and Hulk

If you'd prefer a different example though, you can replace it with Michael Clarke Duncan as the Kingpin. Now that was a big fail

Looks like this could be epic. Completely new direction for Superman. Less (for lack of a better word) pure than the others.

An African-American Perry White and a ranga Lois Lane. Talk about breaking the mould!

This is what excites me. You would never see a scene like this in ANY other Superman platform except for the animated ones. One with rage whilst using his powers.

Yeah thats my opinion too. I didn't hate it but I was just so disappointed to miss what I had expected to occur in my mind.
