I meant no offense.

I just find that a guy who can do ANYTHING and has basically no weaknesses is a bit boring.

There are enough villains to take him in, but not enough to kill him, so his only real threat is Doomsday.

I'm one of those boring people - my three favourite heroes are Batman, Spiderman and a tie between Thor and Aquaman.

I know, I know - Thor is Marvel's Superman, right?

Well, yes - but he has clear weaknesses.

Superman is just too...perfect. How can I take any threat to him seriously when he's so difficult to hurt?

This is why I'm desperate for a Doomsday film. Doomsday will give people aapathetic towards Supes a reason to cheer for him.

None taken.
Can't fault you for having an opinion.

For me it's not about who can kill Supes and whatnot...but more about how he is this all-powerful being living in a world where a touch from him can kill someone. He's a god among men and has to constantly hold back. He has all the power in the world, and yet can't save everyone. All the world looks to him to be the saviour - he has the weight of the universe on top of him.
That's what I find interesting about him.

Even in the JL, they call him "The Big Guy". Superpowered beings look up to him. That's a lot to handle.

No, that's a fair point. He has a huge weight of expectations on his shoulders.

I just wish he didn't have so many powers, and that he had a few more weaknesses.

I bet he's shit at maths and parallel parking. Do they count as weaknesses?

I don't know about that - I'm pretty sure Superman is pretty smart, and by virtue of his super speed, he could read 200 mathematics textbooks in one second, so anything he doesn't know, he can quickly learn.

I'd just rather they made a different film.

How about a Luke Cage film? Or (it will never happen) a film about Moon Knight?

Netflicks is doing a Luke Cage TV series and I think Moon Knight would go better as a TV series too, rather than a movie

Marc Specter is such a complex (and very much broken) character that I think he would best be justified over a multi ep show.

Same with the Punisher too imo

I'll have to check them out.

I was hoping they'd do a new hero movie, but I understand why they went with what they did.

Marvel's Kevin Feige to Produce Next Installment of the Spider-Man Franchise with Amy Pascal

(Culver City, California, and Burbank, California February 09, 2015) – Sony Pictures Entertainment and Marvel Studios announced today that Sony is bringing Marvel into the amazing world of Spider-Man.

Under the deal, the new Spider-Man will first appear in a Marvel film from Marvel's Cinematic Universe (MCU). Sony Pictures will thereafter release the next installment of its $4 billion Spider-Man franchise, on July 28, 2017, in a film that will be co-produced by Kevin Feige and his expert team at Marvel and Amy Pascal, who oversaw the franchise launch for the studio 13 years ago. Together, they will collaborate on a new creative direction for the web slinger. Sony Pictures will continue to finance, distribute, own and have final creative control of the Spider-Man films.

Marvel and Sony Pictures are also exploring opportunities to integrate characters from the MCU into future Spider-Man films.

The new relationship follows a decade of speculation among fans about whether Spider-Man – who has always been an integral and important part of the larger Marvel Universe in the comic books – could become part of the Marvel Universe on the big screen. Spider-Man has more than 50 years of history in Marvel's world, and with this deal, fans will be able to experience Spider-Man taking his rightful place among other Super Heroes in the MCU.

Bob Iger, Chairman and CEO, The Walt Disney Company said: "Spider-Man is one of Marvel's great characters, beloved around the world. We're thrilled to work with Sony Pictures to bring the iconic web-slinger into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which opens up fantastic new opportunities for storytelling and franchise building."

"We always want to collaborate with the best and most successful filmmakers to grow our franchises and develop our characters. Marvel, Kevin Feige and Amy, who helped orchestrate this deal, are the perfect team to help produce the next chapter of Spider-Man," said Michael Lynton, Chairman and CEO of Sony Pictures Entertainment. "This is the right decision for the franchise, for our business, for Marvel, and for the fans."

"Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios share a love for the characters in the Spider-Man universe and have a long, successful history of working together. This new level of collaboration is the perfect way to take Peter Parker's story into the future," added Doug Belgrad, president, Sony Pictures Entertainment Motion Picture Group.

"I am thrilled to team with my friends at Sony Pictures along with Amy Pascal to produce the next Spider-Man movie," said Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige. "Amy has been deeply involved in the realization on film of one of the world’s most beloved characters. Marvel's involvement will hopefully deliver the creative continuity and authenticity that fans demand from the MCU. I am equally excited for the opportunity to have Spider-Man appear in the MCU, something which both we at Marvel, and fans alike, have been looking forward to for years."

Spider-Man, embraced all over the world, is the most successful franchise in the history of Sony Pictures, with the five films having taken in more than $4 billion worldwide.

Surely Civil War will mark Spideys first MCU appearance, since the whole comic book storyline was Cap v Stark with Spidey in the middle

As a result of the new deal, Thor: Ragnarok will now arrive nearly four months later than planned, moving to November 3, 2017 (from July 28). Black Panther, which previously held that spot, gets delayed eight months, going from that original November 3 date to July 6, 2018. That, in turn, bumps Captain Marvel to November 2, 2018 and moves Inhumans all the way to July 12, 2019. The two-part Avengers: Infinity War, meanwhile, remains set for release May 4, 2018 and May 3, 2019.

Hmm, so with all the bumps I'm guessing this means the Inhumans won't feature in the infinity war

Dunno. I'd like to see him get another go, but with all signs pointing to another reboot they'll probably go another direction. I'm guessing this also means the sinister six movie has probably been scrapped

lol. Prefer to have Spider-Man kept separate from the MCU, I feel it would work better that way same as the X-Men. Now if this was FF4 instead I would agree with the move.

I agree (not on the F4 bit).
I enjoyed the Garfield Spider-Man's. Sure the second one had it's problems, but I liked it enough to want to see another sequel. Now instead it starts all over again.

You can bet your arse that all the people who cried out "Why reboot it! We already had a Spider-Man with the Raimi versions. It's too soon!" when Amazing Spider-Man was being made won't be saying the same thing now. Those people who had written off the remake before it had even started filming.

The biggest reason I didn't want Marvel to get their hands on Spidey again is purely because I hate Marvel fanboys.
Don't get me wrong, I don't hate Marvel - I like their comics and their movies. But listening to and reading the comments from those fanboys who blindly worship at the holy alter of Marvel, those who think they can do no wrong...they just annoy me so much.
