Z(u, w) = Z0(w)[1 - exp{-b(w)u}] where Z(u, w) is the expected number of runs to be scored in u overs when w wickets have been lost. Z0(w) is the average total score if an unlimited number of overs were available and when w wickets have been lost. b(w) is a decay constant that varies with w, the number of wickets lost. What the hell am I talking about?

Thanks Yaqonamate!
Not a question as such, but how good is Andy Flower???

Mate I'm not too sure (I used a search engine as I'd never heard of the awards until the question was posted) but there seems to have been a lot of controversy over the selections.
Here's some links on the story:

Here's now my question:
Earlier this year in a one day match played at Lahore between New Zealand and Pakistan, Pakistan's quickie Shoaib Achtar bowled the unofficial quickest ball ever bowled in crickethistory. He sent down a rocket at 161kmh flat(100.04mph),which overtook Jeff Thomson's longstanding record of 160.5kmh (99.7mph), bowled almost 30-years agoduring a 1975 test against the West Indies.
But coming almost as fast as Akhtar's delivery was sent, were hugesuspicions over the accuracy and credibility of the apparent record. The ICC never officially recognized the delivery at the time (and as far as I can research, still do not recognise it although somedo).
Why was that ball bowled never considered authentic by the International Cricket Council?
(I need the specific reason)

Excellent quality question there Outlaw! Kind of the same type of quality question I would have posted mate .... ;)... :D
Well mate, seeings you seem to havestumped the forum with that question, I thought I'd bring my cricket knowledge to the rescue and answer it, before this greatthread drops any further down the main page. Wouldn't wanna see that mate.
Here's the answer:
Shoaib Akhtar's achievement was cast into doubt because the broadcaster's speed gun, developed by Electronic Development House of South Africa, was out of order at the time. The 100mph-plus delivery was measured on a device supplied by a Lahore Hi-Tech company, Cybernet in the last minute.Electronic Development House speed guns were the prefered choice of the broadcasting network and theICC for their (apparent)reliablity and accuracy, therefore, because of its unavailability at the time of Akhtar's delivery, the record was never oficially recognized by the ICC and many other world cricketing organizations.
{A little bit more interesting stuff):
The top speeds in recent times, including numerous records set by ShoaibAkhtar, have all been recorded on a system developed by Electronic Development Houseof South Africa. The fastest delivery recorded on the system used in Australia, developed by IDS, was 155.7kmh bowled by Akhtar against India two years ago.
Wicketkeepers are arguably the best-positioned players to measure the speeds of deliveries. Despite Akhtar's claims, fast bowlers are arguably the worst.
When a team of sport scientists set up high-speed cameras to record bowling speeds during a Test match between Australia and the West Indies in 1975, Dennis Lillee told the scientists he would signal them when he was about to bowl his fastest delivery of the over.
After a couple of warm-up overs, he waved furiously to the scientists that he was about to unleash his quickest ball. But when they compiled the results, surprisingly to some,it was Lillee's slowest delivery of the over.

Now for here...
Who am I?
Yet another product of Bloemfontein's Grey College, I amon the threshold of what promises to be a rewarding careerin international testcricket. I was still a schoolboy whenI mademy maiden 50 on first-class debut against Michael Atherton's England tourists in 1995/96; and three seasons laterI became only the 18th player representing my countryto total more than 1,000 runs in a domestic season. Indeed, only five of my fellow country players, have betteredmy 1,070 runs. I played two Tests as an opening bat against Zimbabwe at the beginning of thea recent testseason, but lostmy place in the side when{player name purposely ommitted}and{player name purposely ommitted}returned from injury.I was a late call-up formy country'stour of Sri Lankarecently when{player name purposely ommitted}was withdrawn from the team.

I'll fill in the omissions if need-be.
